Lovecraft was a lot more complicated a man than "lmao he named his cat Nigger Man" or "OMG this racist named his cat Nigger Man" or "he even supported Hitler." If you read his letters, which are more voluminous than his actual published works, he only supported Hitler until finding out what he was actually about, and despite being a virulent racist in his abstract views, was actually invariably polite and even generous to minorities, even Jews. He literally married a Jew, although they amicably divorced. He was incredibly generous to aspiring writers, again, including Jews, giving them advice, and that was apparently good advice since so many of them ended up writing similarly to his style and ended up themselves famous.

Part of the reason the whole Lovecraft mythos even exists is so many other people were influenced by it.

Lovecraft was a weirdo, and his weirdness extended beyond mere racism. For instance, he was such a ridiculous Anglophile he detested the American Revolution and thought it shouldn't have happened. This was far from his only crackpot belief.

Something people don't get about Lovecraft, though, is he was fundamentally a nice person.

This is what utterly fucking disgusts me about SJWs. They can't view a person as the totality of their acts and personality. They are just instantly utter garbage if you can find a single "problematic" statement they ever made. And then CANCELLED! Fuck these people with a bloody chainsaw.

I'm so happy you spoke up about this. I'm a huge horror fan, always have been, ever since the first "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" book I could get my grubby little hands on at a kid. I want to add that H.P Lovecraft, with all of his faults and flaws, is one of the most influential horror authors that has ever lived, and this cannot be stripped away from him because "Ew he did squicky things sometimes." The man had a part in shaping the genre of horror stories into what they are today. When someone acquires such a high respect such as him... You've kinda just got to take him as he is. His slimy little tendrils of terror exist in the horror genre today, and will likely live on, no matter how hard SJWs try to cancel him.

If you want his actual philosophy of horror, look up Supernatural Horror in Literature, which is basically his manifesto on the subject.

What I'd love more than anything would be for someone to tally up how much they are owed, and then subtract all the money spent on them through welfare, housing, food stamps and affirmative action, as well as all the property damage, money spent policing and incarcerating them, and all the damage to the families they've destroyed from their violence.

They'd end up owing another 200 years of slavery.

I read a brief biography of Lovecraft and he definetly didn't had an easy life (his mother believed he wasn't going to make anything out of himself, editors costantly told him his stories were a bunch of crap...) and he was a weirdo, such asn his strange preference on room temperature and the like, but he was overall an amazing guy and a stellar writer. I definetly don't know enough about him, but i can say that i admire his stuff.

The thing with SJWs is that, like many people have said, they are neo calvinists. You are either a good and proper person or you are tainted and you have no way to redeem yourself. You are doomed no matter the effort and even if you spend your life repenting they will never accept you. And they will got the extra mile to see you ruined. But it's even more infuriating when someone they despise makes something they enjoy (we see it also with J.K. Rowling and the recent TERF drama), and they will consider also the product of said person to be tainted beyond imagination to the point that even if the story has a positive outlook, they will think it embodies the hateful rethoric of the author with every word.

If they disliked it and they left the stuff be, it would be ok. But no, they need to fuck everything up with their retarded antics about acceptance and equality.

I've read a lot of Lovecraft's letters.

If he had been born 100 years later, his teeaboo, cat-loving, chronically ill ass would have been a copious emailer and poster on Livejournal/Dreamwidth/Tumblr instead. Modern Lovecraft would be theatrically complaining about mundanes and non-asexuals exactly the same way he actually wrote about Negros and immigrants, because once you adjust for the sensibilities of the time period and the particular nerd subculture that's the modern equivalent.

I would also like to say for the record: "Nigger-man" wasn't even Lovecraft's cat; it was the name of his neighbor's cat. Tasteless choice for "The Rats in the Walls," yeah, but we have to consider the cat's feelings in the matter.
