His youtube channel isn't monetized. I could sit here and write an essay on all of his problems with it. He'll actually just drop slurs in his titles and get age restricted at the same time he's removing his comments section. Chris Chan lost an account or two for making threatening videos so I guess Lucas has been a little lucky.

I’d like to know exactly how DID Lucas talk to girls in school. Lucas states that he would introduce himself by name, then stare randomly around at things and shrug his shoulders “comically”, unable to speak to the girl. Then she’d ask him if he was gay, apparently.

However, Cyril stated that when talking to “strangers or girls he liked,” Lucas could have inappropriate outbursts and become rude. I’m wondering if we could find out exactly how Lucas DID talk to girls back then. Definitely, especially considering his impulsive and reckless decision making to start a fire in a parking lot or to get blackout drunk on his first day of work; his lying and manipulation of others without remorse and his overblown sense of entitlement in my own unprofessional opinion prove he is a sociopath who would have no problem harming a child if he could get away with it that’s how this looks to any observer. But it’s weird hearing about his younger side of him. I feel now he is more aware of some of the risks of drawing attention to himself from law enforcement he has to know how to control his erratic behaviour in public and yet lately he’s been struggling to contain it all since he ends up making threats to staff that get him banned from shelters. Something has to be fucked in his pre-frontal cortex the way he can’t process much else outside immediate gratification and the way he can’t think beyond the short term. I really hope he doesn’t have CP on his phone but something tells me he would despite the risks.

As you point out, I'm still close friends with Seth, so you won't get much dirt on him from me. He is, by all accounts, pretty normal and boring. He's been a teacher for going on a decade and good at what he does. Loves his job, leads a normal life, has no problem with women and is the opposite of Lucas in pretty much every way.

I would not say the same about Shawn, the oldest brother. While not even close to as unhealthy as Lucas, he has had his share of struggles. He is paralyzed on one side of his body and really bitter at the world. He's a right-winger and a gun nut, as well as a conspiracy theorist. Believes the flat Earth stuff, is a member of Qanon, thinks Bill Gates is going to implant tracking chips if you take the vaccine, etc. It probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that I have also cut him out of my life.

Early childhood? Not really. I met him when he was 16, so that's where my side of the story starts. From what Seth has told me, they were pretty close brothers who did the normal brother stuff. Nothing out of the norm. Lucas bounced around between his Dad's and Mom's places, but I don't think there's anything too noteworthy about his early childhood. He didn't burn down the house or anything that I heard about.

No. I remember him having similar stalking problems with at least two of his former girlfriends. I know that Gina (who he dated while I was a senior in high school) was concerned about him after they broke up. And then there was another girlfriend later. There's a video of him getting into a fight here in Olympia (years after I cut him out of my life), and the things the guy is saying to him at the time suggested he was doing exactly the same thing to that guy that he did to me. I hate to say it, but my first reaction was more sadness and disappointment than surprise. Knowing that he wasn't taking meds, I figured that he would eventually do something bad enough to put him on people's radar. I always hoped it was nothing violent, but this isn't much better. What did surprise me was all the stuff he said to justify it. All the science nonsense he spewed and how adamant he was about it. In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have been surprised by that, since he is one who gets focused on something and just runs with it to such an extreme level that he's off-putting to everybody. He did that with me and atheism. He wouldn't accept that I classified myself as an agnostic, because that wasn't good enough for him. He needed me to fully agree and commit. Oh wait, that's one of your next questions, so I'll save it for that answer.

I'll confess, I don't really know what Myrna has said about Lucas since I cut him out of my life. I know that both his mother and father have gotten to the point where they all but cut him out of their lives, but they still get updates about what is going on (like when he got beat up a while back). Somebody mentioned something about her writing a blog or talking about his mental health problems. Unfortunately, I haven't seen or read any of that, so I can't speak to that. If she's defending his action and trying to minimize the danger he may be to other people, then that's not good. From my perspective, it seemed like she was always quick to cut him off and let him do his own thing, which is why I've never seen her as an enabler. With more information, I could be swayed on this point.

First and foremost, I don't want to talk to him face-to-face. Or at all. I'm happy that he's all the way on the other side of the state and completely out of my life. I was angry with him for years, but got to the point where I had to accept that it's the mental illness that is doing this and that he needs to be on medication. I have always said that I hope that he gets the help that he needs. Sadly, with each passing year, that seems less and less likely to happen.

The problem with asking him about things in the future is that he doesn't think that way. This is the frustrating part of reasoning with Lucas, because all of the common sense things are thrown out the window because he's too impulsive. This is the most apparent when you look at how he views money, but it's true of pretty much everything. When he gets money, he immediately spends it, often in the most questionable ways possible. When he got $100 from his mom for rent/bills 20 years ago, he spent most of it on fast food that he ended up throwing away. When he got stimulus money, he went out to eat two times in a row and bought the most expensive things possible. He only thinks about today, not tomorrow. So, when you ask him to think about the future, you're asking him to go outside of his comfort zone and think in a completely different way. If you give him the choice of $1,000 today or $100 every day for the rest of his life, I honestly believe he would go with the $1,000 ten out of ten times.

He views Christians and the religious as being easily swayed and gullible. They are sheep. He's a militant atheist. The type that will let you know (and just keep letting you know) that he's right and you're wrong. Even back when I knew him, he would get angry that the non-believers around him were as angry and militant as he was. He treats it like a war, because he's desperate to be right and is constantly angry. He's enormously insecure about things, which he tries to mask by getting into pissing contests. If you've been online, then you already know that this is not a trait exclusive to Lucas, but the difference is that he has way more time and way more anger than the average 41 year old. Lucas truly believes that he's superior to believers and is always looking for that fight.

I hate to say it, but if not for some of the mental issues, he probably would have been embraced and supported by the atheist and skeptic YouTubers of seven or eight years ago. If he was able to calm himself a little and learn from his mistakes, he probably could have a YouTube channel with 500K subs and making a ton through Patreon. The world has a bad habit of propping up shitlords, and Lucas could have so easily slipped into that niche. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Have you ever considered writing a book on this?

When we were still friends and he was living at that assisted living apartment, I started writing a book about the place. The people he lived around were all really interesting, and I liked the idea of looking at their lives in a way that wasn't mocking them. He lived around truly interesting characters, all of which had been discarded by society in one way or another. His next-door neighbor was a guy named Jared who was in an incestuous relationship with his sister. The guy downstairs would only go by the name Stryker (which I refused to call him, because he's not a member of the X-Men) and believed that the characters from the Lion King lived inside his computer. It was interesting watching them all interact and have fun, but there's also an undercurrent of sadness and despair that is interesting from a storytelling perspective, but also a tough tightrope to walk.

Would I write a book like that now? Probably not. The older I've gotten, the more I understand how little I truly understand about mental illness. I worry that I am the wrong person to talk about his mental issues. That's why it's probably better to leave these kinds of stories here, where you will hopefully not judge me too harshly for being an armchair psychologist.

The racism and homophobia arc is new, as far as I can tell. When I knew him, Lucas was always open to people who were different from him. He was a liberal who fought for gay marriage early on and I didn't sense any racism in him at the time. After listening to a couple of recent interviews with him (the one posted here and another at The Geek Room on YouTube), I get the impression that he's doing this for attention. He even admits that he's doing it to get a rise out of people, because he's a "stand-up comedian" (rolls eyes). I think he has taken a lesson from the shitlords online who say terrible things to get noticed. He's like a teenager in that sense. He doesn't know how to construct actual jokes, so instead what he does is shock. Unfortunately, he's also really bad at that.

I've been talking to him under a burner account on IG since 2019 now, and he's had a few fairly lucid moments where he infodumps about all of his insecurities (especially around his sexuality, he is 100% bi, he's admitted multiple times that he's attracted to men as well as women and it scares the fuck out of him as he doesn't want to be seen as gay), and part of it is likely a lot of what you talked about here: His unmedicated mental illness leaves him pretty unpredictable with lashing out in conversation.

He also is convinced, at this point, that negging is how you get girls to like you; if you're mean to them they'll desperately want to prove that you SHOULD like them is kind of what he's been hung up on since late 2019.

Obviously, in some cases, that'll attract a really insecure person but in Lucas' case it just comes off as lunatic level aggression.

Haven't talked to him in awhile as he blew up at me over a minor correction I gave him on something completely innocuous he said; didn't block me, but he unfollowed me so oh well.

I dredged up some of his old webpages from the Wayback Machine and tossed them up at https://virtualwern.com/ some of them are old enough to be from around the time you were still on and off again talking to him and it's interesting to read over what you posted then go back and read the stuff there and sort of watch the slow decline into what he is now.

Honestly, one of the most chilling things out of all the insane rambling from his past pages is this: "Rape is no fun. Then they struggle."

I'm sure he'd claim he was making an edgy joke but it definitely comes off more like he's had firsthand experience.

Most of the time if someone has sustained temperatures that high they die. Though, if she is correct on the numbers, there's a 100% chance it caused serious brain damage to him, which would explain a whole hell of a lot.

His youtube channels (Lucas Werner and The Wern) aren't monetized and I know he had a complete fucking meltdown when he found out my IG and FB were monetized just for poking fun at his content and doing tarot readings on his life.

He also comments on my youtube channel a lot, which is nothing but compiled reuploads of his stuff that I started doing when he was posting on a private IG after getting his upload privileges to youtube revoked for awhile.

Thank you so much for pointing me to your site and archiving what Myrna said. This is the kind of thing that makes me happy I engaged, because it really does bring a level of closure to some of these threads that have been dangling for a long time. When Myrna found out that Lucas did drugs and drank with me as a teenager, she immediately blamed me for everything. When I kicked him out, she insulted me and once again blamed me. I knew it wasn't my fault and she was just lashing out, but it still hurt. Over the years, I have forgiven her and accepted that she was hurting. She had just beaten breast cancer and all this Lucas bullshit was dropped on her lap, which I'm sure only made things a million times worse. I hated the way she handled it, but understood.

Her blog posts reveal a mother who is ready to do some heavy self-reflection. She's no longer blaming the world, instead choosing to blame the circumstances and herself. I'm sure that even if it didn't amount to much, just writing all that down was cathartic for her. Even if she has treated me poorly in the past, I have always felt bad for Myrna. She didn't deserve this. And the truth is, it's probably not her fault. Sometimes bad shit happens, and that sucks. I truly hope she has let herself off the hook for Lucas and found a way to enjoy retirement.

I've been reading through the autobiography/rant/hit-piece Lucas wrote about me back in 2010, and it's comical how skewed his version of events is. I could probably go on forever debunking it. One of the things it has done was make me dig into the early years of my website, Defunct Games. Because I was just starting out, I was roping me close friends into helping me with various projects. This is something everybody wanted to be a part of at the time, including Lucas. He shows up throughout the early years, mostly because he was available and into it. This was, according to his autobiography, at a point in his life where he hated me. Knowing how false that was, I wanted to double check and see what he had helped me with. There's a very amateurish radio play that Lucas acted in from around 2002 - 2003, as well as a time when he tagged along with me to a convention (because I knew he would appreciate going on a road trip and having a little fun). I'll dive into those later, but first I wanted to share a trivia game show that he participated in.

I had to use the Wayback Machine to find the link below, as the show he helped me with no longest works on the current version of the website. Sadly, it doesn't even work on the archived version. Here's how it's supposed to work: I asked a non-gamer, an average gamer and a hardcore gamer basic video game questions, and the player at home would click to see if they got it right or wrong. In episode 3 (which debuted around 2004), he was the average gamer. The pictures aren't working on the archived version, so I'm going to post them below. This was when he was living in the assisted living apartment.
