TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

Lindsay's book has a sequel due out October 12th 2021 so I'm sure her publisher is hoping she'll get all of this social media drama nonsense out of her system now so it won't distract her from promoting the book. They'll be disappointed when "Book 2" gets released a week after Lindsay puts out her 3 hour and 20 minute "Mask Off 4" video.

This Liana bitch is just as bad as Lindsay, perhaps even worse. "Diet Nazi is bad because the Nazis actually starved people," & "Gamergate Refugee is bad because refugees suffer more than e-slapfights", are just as annoying and petty as "My detractors are Diet Nazis."

No, those are disagreeable not because Lindsay is demeaning the events connotated with those words but because of their use as dismissive hyperbole. Calling someone a Nazi is clearly intended to get spectators to write that person off as scum. She's not reading into the broad subtext of the video but instead laser focusing on the fact she used figurative speech the wrong way.
Yeah, I’m not clear exactly what a “Diet Nazi” is. A Nazi is a very specific thing, even in the figurative sense. “Diet Nazi” is cowardly mincing of words. She knows her critics aren’t Nazis, but she wants everyone to treat them as such. But rather than just accept that it’s hyperbole, she decides to have her cake and eat it with this bullshit.

I think it might be the fact that, again, she is so close to seeing that she is as much of the problem as the people she bitches about in her "apology" video and makes a lot of the steps towards realizing it, but she never quite has her eureka moment of going "Oh, I'm part of the problem."
She’s had that realisation. She is fully aware that what’s happening to her now is exactly what she visited on others, and that is why she’s created this slog of a video to try to explain how it’s different with her instead of just saying “STFU faggot.”

Sorry I'm very late to the party because there's many things I'd rather do than listen a 2 hour Lindsay Ellis video, like listen to the standup of Brendan Schaub. But seeing the overwhelming negative reception piqued my interest.

1. Within 2 minutes I'm already groaning at Ellis. She claims "cancelled" originated from the lesser known 70s band Chic? Seriously? Cancelled entered pop culture vernacular because of TV Shows (and probably earlier in radio & stage plays) would get cancelled due to technical issues or because it was just no longer financially viable.

The first major showing of cancel culture to my knowledge is when the NAACP successfully forced CBS to cancel the highly popular Television adaptation of "Amos n Andy" because they didn't like the country laughing at blacks. Whether you think that was justified or not (it did result in the Black Actors getting severely shortened careers) it was a clear protest that resulted in getting a beloved show deplatformed.

2. To give credit where credit is due I did not know the Justine Sacco shitstorm was more multilayered with her family being Pro-Mandela South Africans. But then Lindsay makes the humdinger of a defense that perhaps Ms Sacco thought she was so much of an "ally" that she could just make a hurtful downright racist statement without any blowback? And then she makes a wrongly bigoted statement that "white people do this all the time." How did this "pop culture critic" forget that Nick Cannon got "cancelled" for voicing Black Supremacist garbage? At the end of the day it's simply true that some people (and not necessarily bad people) will make awful comments because they think it's funny, they honestly feel that way, or they're looking to offend/shock others. No need for mental gymnastics.

3. Sam Biddle obviously sarcastically writing to "bully nerds" is structually same thing as mocking the AIDS epidemic in Africa? What the fuck am I listening to? I'm the right wing chud terf of an Eastern European Gossip Forum and I'm the one offended at this minimization of flagrant unfunny racism? Sacco didn't deserve people stalking and threatening her but she did earn the criticism. It feels to me that in Lindsay's mind that you only deserve redemption if you're not registered Republican.

4. Lindsay conveniently ignores two big pop culture cancellation campaigns. The massive blowback a dentist faced by shooting Cecil The Lion, a cancellation that was spurred on by Jimmy Kimmel. And the infamous #CancelColbert after an asian woman got massively butthurt after Colbert's tv account made a tweet that in itself was a clear cut sarcastic lampooning of the then Washington Redskins. I wonder if Lindsay failed to mention both of these as Kimmel clearly promoted Cancel Culture and Colbert himself mocked the cancellation, which puts a hole in her claim that only those nasty right wingers are whining about Cancel Culture. Don't want to annoy the big fish right?

5. I see why people are annoyed at how she pretty much failed to apologize. But I do feel her offending tweets were more or less tone deaf comments that don't deserve mental self-flagellations. But what I am bothered by his how Lindsay is now trying to dismiss a vast majority of her attacks because they're made by white people. This is so laughably self defeating as the natural conclusion is that Lindsay's critiques and defenses are now clearly worthless as she herself is a Mayo Ghoul. Also I don't want to get closer to you Lindsay.

6. Lindsay then pulls out the far left strawman that America is an inherently White Supremacist nation. The same country that for generations now has tried hard to uproot these old problems and has given people of all walks of life the ability to live freely and pursuit happiness. The same country that started from the beginning allowing religious freedom. No the nation isn't perfect but spare me the America bashing. You're perfectly equipped to discuss the musical "Cats", beyond that you're out of your league. And for the record you might be "educated" in liberal arts but you're still white trash and the mugshots prove it.

7. Lindsay wants to minimize all long winded attacks on her with the ad hom attack that they're compiled by no life losers. Lindsay you're a pop culture critic, sure you turned it into a career but your life is as meaningless as the worst of worst no life forum dweller. At best you give trivial entertainment for people. A productive fry cook gives more to society than you ever have.

8. And here's Diet Nazi. Yeah this is an utterly disgusting remark as if shitposting on the internet holds any similarity to a group that was responsible for genocides.

And I'm done, I am not going to go thru Lindsay's List of Sins segment because as I skip thru it becomes apparent that Hot Dog girl just needed to indulge her love of Whiskey. What an ugly self righteous person she ended up being.

All jokes aside it's just another variation of "crypto fascist". They have to constantly vary up their bullshit vocabulary.

She is not hard to figure out. She is just a woman that never outgrew her rebellious teenage phase, and still uses woke politics to to oppose her conservative parents. That’s why she does things like parading her abortion.

Which is sad coming from a grown ass woman like her

She learned nothing about the monsters she helped create and cancel culture.

Her “apology video” just proves she is only mad she isn’t the one doing the canceling, and just wants things to be how they were before.

Her essays all consist on feeling clever for finding “offensive” and “problematic” things to be offended in cartoons made for literal children that some screen written just made in a whim as an excuse for children to buy toys.

Only people that already agree with her leftist politics and just want someone to tell them what they already believe, to feel smart, would, unironically, like her content
I don't think taking a closer look at children's media is a bad idea in and of itself. The problem is that most of the people doing it are autists and political extremists who take it way beyond the normal analysis of, "does this teach good things to kids?"

I think it's bizarre when people who hate kids and are generally uninvolved in producing things for children feel the need to weigh in. Shouldn't these judgements be reserved for people who actually interact with kids? At least when Lindsay rambles about 9/11 or Phantom, she's staying in her lane.

If the latest Disney princess vehicle is derivative/formulaic, that's more indicative of problems with the film industry overall than it is of the quality of one particular movie. Normally I'm not a proponent of the "who cares, it's for dumb kids" argument, but this being a kids' film is important in this instance because it's not going to be "derivative" to a child who is experiencing that particular story structure for the first time. Aesthetic things like music and visuals are more important to children than originality, and good lessons are what matters to parents. If it meets or exceeds those benchmarks, the movie is doing its job.

That's the problem with promoting the idea that Disney is just as much for adults as it is for children; adults judge shit on a totally different basis, and it's fucking autistic to apply the same set of standards to, for instance, both Hercules and Game of Thrones.

I have to agree with this take in a sense that it is cool to look back and see why something was so great to begin with but the problem
lies when people try to say how" problematic" something was.
If society as a whole has progressed Beyond whatever random show or cartoon you're watching then why the hell do you need to bring it up when it's no longer relevant.
Context is the Kryptonite to woke leftist because they love taking something from decades ago and making it the now regardless if it applies or not

The funniest thing about this shit is that literally no one here gave a fuck about that tweet. If she views us as "Nazis," then the people "cancelling" her can't be-- their priorities are opposite ours (though the reality is that there aren't any Nazis involved on either side.) This is what happens when you cow-tow to the ideological demands of puritanical twats-- they move the goalposts every day, eagerly awaiting peoples' failure to meet them so they can start a dogpile. You shouldn't be shocked when they do the exact same thing to you.

Was sucking the ladydique worth it, Lindsay? It did nothing to prevent you from being branded with the same scarlet letter as the TERFs.

I didn't even touch on that part, but you're absolutely right. They don't come at older media from the perspective of explaining why things are different now, their goal is to diminish the influence/reputation of the artwork based on modern benchmarks the creators are unlikely to have fulfilled.

ATLA is a great example. It commits the heinous sin of depicting east-asian cultures as an amorphous blob, and is therefore ~problematic~. But that was a really common mistake in American media 15-20 years ago, and I'd argue that it's a lot less egregious in Avatar A) because the cultures are fictional and are only modeled after real ones and B) the show made an effort to distinguish the fictional cultures from each other. Crucially too, people generally don't do it anymore, because the internet has made normies more aware of the differences between Japan, China, Korea, etc.

Reminds me of a dumbass I met in college who was offended by RHPS because it uses the word "transsexual." It was made in the fucking seventies! Did you expect them to consult a fucking crystal ball about what nomenclature people use fifty years in the future?

It's good that Dork streamed this abomination because I would never have found the patience to listen to this otherwise. What a surreal video. I feel intellectually disconnected to these Breadtube people in a way that I cannot overstate. It's one thing to have a difference in philosophy resulting in different conclusions which are at least logically sound, but with people like Ellis it's obvious they start from the conclusion and try to ham-handedly argue backwards to a premise.

Like when she shows the clips of these right-wingers complaining about cancel culture and (as it turns out, rightfully) warning that it can happen to anyone, she really doesn't see how making fun of them does not help her case at all because she is, at this very moment, complaining about being cancelled and not deserving it in 2-hour Behemoth of a video which mostly consists of a pathetic combination of self-pity and arrogance. But orange man bad I guess so it's all fine.

Also the phrase "getting cancelled" was somehow coined by a semi-popular African 80s disco band. Weird, I thought it was just because the literal meaning of the word is "to invalidate or annul something." And stale 4chan memes like "friendly/daily reminder that..." were created by capital B "Black Twitter" and using them is cultural appropriation? Mind-boggling.

Rate me as late but is there a reup or mirror for the deadwing stream? I missed it and there is no way I will watch hotdogs girl without commentary over her stupid takes.

It was posted here earlier, but here you go.

Niggers claim to have invented everything, but cannot function on even a basic level.
