Not an expert, but I doubt a videogame dialogue can act as a covert questioneer of a decent sensitivity. At least modern games dialogues. I can somewhat imagine it with stuff like Planescape, but that's old and too much reading for AAA title. And, why is anyone even wants to make a covert mass examination of morality? Did I just awoke from coma, it's 2052 and Helios AI is real now? Normal people with this amount of control usually want to know, how to make you buy more shit.

The only way you could possibly stretch tracking morality as some sort of capitalist scheme with any justification is that the results could be used to determine future plots. For instance someone could use data from the Telltale Walking Dead series to make a zombie movie where the protagonist makes similar decisions to those favored by players and the antagonists make choices that most players disagreed with. Essentially they would determine which choices consumers would approve/disapprove of in order to maximize enjoyment of the product. The big problem for Jim's view is that there are far easier and more accurate ways to find that information through already existing consumer research methods.

Honestly though, his point on data collection is probably more so for rhetorical purposes than anything else. He sows some seeds of suspicion, simply suggests that data collection may be being used for some nefarious purpose, and then lets the viewer fill in the blanks with whatever horrifying possibilities they can conjure. He doesn't need to prove or investigate anything, he just needs to nudge his audience in the right direction in order to make something fairly innocuous seem like an evil ploy. Its textbook agitator.

Its part of the tragedy of Jim as a lolcow that can actually be a decent orator especially when it comes to riling people up even over the tiniest shit. In another timeline where he made better choices he would make an excellent driving force behind a consumer revolt against an industry that badly needs some respect for its customers. As it stands he's stuck having to troon out just to pump some adrenaline into his dying career.

Even this wouldn't work because you may be working towards specific goal in the game, like summoning Adhan, joining Xaositects for the second time, seeing how far the Grimoire of Pestilent Thoughts will go or being able to use Trias' sword so it's still a worthless profiling tool.

Even though I've unsubscribed from Jim and I disliked quite a few with videos now, YouTube are still putting this in my recommendations feed.

A few weeks ago a league of legends video was in my recommendations and when I clicked on it I realised it was just to an account I was accidentally subscribed to a long time ago (I don't play league of legends anymore) so I un subbed and I haven't seen the channel since. Wonder why I see Jims face all the time

I decided to quickly check out the video because the thumbnail actually wasn't Jim in drag but with him and his wrestling costume. I want to see if he was already dropping the woman act.

Again a thoroughly ugly intro just using nostalgic 80s commercials, followed by a massive Promo for an upcoming wrestling fight between him and what looks like another tranny but could just be an unfortunate looking biological woman. Plugs in all his different sexual deviancy is during the promo because apparently that makes for good wrestling? Oh and its called "Polyam Cult Party 3", boy I sure do love my wrestling.... and thinking about man on man on woman on xem sex.....

Then he gets onto the game, he seems genuinely like he's not having a good time. The game does look fucked because it won't let him play apparently but the way that he talks about it it's just exhausting for me as an audience member to listen to. I started skipping randomly through the video and it all seems to be around the central premise of "all games are evil" "always online games are bad" and you shouldn't defend a mega corporation.

When ever its Jim talking from his POV Justin stopped using stock footage of attractive females and instead replaced it was still images of the 90s female cartoon characters.

He also keeps harping back to other disastrous always online games from 2014. He uses dungeon keeper Mobile as an example which granted that was a shit show but how old is that game now? And it was even admitted to be shambles by the publisher themselves. I really think James has stopped playing most video games and doesn't really know what the current landscape looks like.

At the end of the video he gets weirdly introspective and admits that it could just be him having a lot of bad luck with his video game with all the problems he found. He's never really mentioned this before. I understand this could be a factor however I think he's getting pushback from "gamers" because they're not having this problem and maybe because Jim actually only suffered a problem a one or two times but because he only plays the game a one or two times that his entire perspective of the game. Again I don't know anything about this game but it seems sus.

He also curses out his "Godforsaken fucking job'" because he wasted time waiting for the game to connect to a broken server? Like Jim, mate, do you know how many people would absolutely love to have your job? I won't be surprised with him this year we're going to see a Jim Sterling "Tribute" Come out of the woodwork and also do gangbusters on Pateron on and start stealing away some of Jims simps. Even if you are a soy boy incarnate and you love BLM, Transrights, LGBTPPP and all that shit, I cant imagine finding this fun or interesting unless they too hated videogames.

Besides the fact developers have been able to track progress since achievements were created, who gives a shit? Morals? What fucking morals, choices in games are 90% of the time ridiculously simplistic shit like "help dying peasant for free or ask for money first"

Those who use "gamer" as an identity are LESS likely to put up with industry bullshit because they are more likely to keep up with news and set higher standards for their hobby.

I can only think of two profit-driven things these companies would do with this information, and neither of them are bad:

1. Create sequels or more new media that better align with players' moral sensibilities
2. Sell the data in aggregate to advertisers who want to create advertisements that better align with consumers' moral sensibilities

And given how often gamers choose to roleplay or pick crazy story options just for fun, I seriously doubt companies would treat these data as reflective of people's ethics in real life.
The most likely outcome is that the developers use the data to decide where to best allocate their budget in the future (flesh out popular routes and cull unpopular ones).
