As far as I'm concerned, that's how you can tell the difference between a true "edgy comedian" and a grifter. A real edgy comedian and free speech advocate would not cower in fear of a deplatforming like Dax does. If Dax's content has any real value, then he should easily be able to remain profitable even with a Patreon ban. Plenty of talented offensive artist have managed to survive deplatforming over the years, at the hands of forces far more powerful than censorship-happy social media platforms. Carlin and Stern survived the FCC, Opie and Anthony survived getting fired from terrestrial radio (for awhile anyway),and even that degenerate Marilyn Manson was able to survive the entire country blaming Columbine on his music. Heck, Josh himself has survived far far worse than Dax probably ever will. If Dax is as principled (and as talented) as he claims he is, then losing his Patreon should be nothing more than a speed bump to him.

He could easily set up a dedicated subscription service for his podcast like Redbar Radio has, and it would be far less complicated than his ill fated Newproject2 vanity project was. Even the most dedicated aylawgs would have to admit that he'd be able to remain profitable on his own platform for awhile. I even think Dax realizes this to an extent. But it probably won't end up going as high as his Patreon is (because let's be honest, the lolsuit is a huge reason why it managed to climb so high), and that's the problem. I think that $20k+ figure is such a point of pride to him that he's more scared of losing that than anything else. As always, it comes down to a fragile ego.
