So this series got approved on Netflix. Its called DeadEndia. ("dead-end-ia") because people really don't need to know what this title says.
This series has an obnoxiously minimal style that Pen Ward should be stabbed for introducing into the animation industry. BTW this was apparently a comic book that sold enough copies to get a cartoon.

Yes, it's choppy and characters are obnoxious, but if I was given a choice, I would prefer this. It could actually make an interesting animated show, if it was properly adapted technically- and writing-wise. An adult show about caricature characters blasting zombies and other shite across varied locations that parody B-movies from different eras, with evil twin of Pee-wee Herman being the cause of it all, surely sounds way more entertaining than cheap and repetitive crap that tries to copy Steven Universe, Gravity Falls and whatnot.

Because the networks wanna pinch those pennies and save money. I don't claim to know jack shit bout the industry, but it's been quantity over quality for a long time hence why we see circle ping pong eye shit. There was a video about a guy talking about Ben 10 of all things, ngl loved the original growing up but anyways, and he touched on why reboots and current animation has that "same style". If I find it again i'll link it here since it was a interesting watch.

Just so you know, this started out as an April's Fools joke but then Tom later declared that it was now canon in an alternate timeline. FnF is overwhelmingly popular so it's no surprise he'll want to capitalise on it. Its fanbase might very well shape NG's community going forward but who knows.

Also you'll notice even with the leaps and bounds we have had in technology, a lot of new cartoons have WORSE quality than a lot of shows where the animators were still painting on cels. It's embarrassing. Animators overall have gone down in skill level... remember the Mary Poppins animated penguin debacle? 2D animators with skill still exist, obviously, but have become far more rare... they needed to rehire some of the greats just to manage the scene. It's actually sad.
The ugly "cal-arts sjw" style isn't some new, original, great thing. It's a shortcut to make animation easier. People require lower skill to pull it off and more shows are mass produced. With anime they usually sacrifice animation and frame rate(less art per second) for much more detail on the characters. Western cartoons sacrificed detail for more fluid animation overall. But recently with a lot of new western shows, there is no animation improvement at all.. and the characters are simplistic + ugly. No wonder people are running to anime.
