if he's found guilty of all charges and sent away for life:

Just out of curiosity, what happens if the jury decides to not touch this case and they wash their hands from this entire mess?
Legal academics please respond
If you're thinking of one or more of the jurors saying "I don't know what to think, I decline to answer" then that would be a hung jury and I believe that juror may be found in contempt of court, and the trial would be redone with a new pool of jurors.

If you're saying "we're not really sure if he's guilty or not, we're just going to declare him not guilty to wash our hands of it", that's jury nullification. He would walk free and could not be retried unless the prosecution can prove the defense illegally influenced the jurors (I don't believe that would happen in this case). If you're saying "We don't know if he's guilty or not, we're going to find him guilty so we don't get attacked/our houses burned down" that is grounds for a mistrial and the defense could (in this case I believe could easily prove) "They were influenced by outside factors (Maxine Waters, the riots), we never should've used jurors from Minneapolis because they were too easily influenced by the social climate, we need to redo the trial with jurors from another jurisdiction".

My guess right now is we have an 80-15-4.9-.1 split. 80% chance the bulk of the charges are dismissed, 15% chance there is a mistrial, 4.9% chance he is found guilty and it gets successfully appealed, .1% chance there is a meaningful conviction from this TODAY. The jury was only deliberating for 10 hours. Jurors never find a verdict this quickly unless the decision is overwhelming and obvious. No matter what your opinion is, you can't deny that Chauvin levied a very effective defense. The fact that was done so quick, makes me think they either agreed unanimously he was innocent, or they were compelled to find him guilty by outside factors - at which point there will be a mistrial.

The fact that the jury reached a verdict so soon, historically, means a guilty verdict. What he could be found guilty on, the time draws near.

Of course, I've seen not guilty verdicts come back just as quick so...everyone, get your popcorn and drinks ready. Shit's about to get salty.
With how ridiculous this jury was it's going to be guilty. There is no way the soy brain white guys on the jury spoke up even a little bit. He's gonna get fried.

I have business downtown this weekend. Not looking forward to the potential riots in my way.
Wear all black and don a ski-mask. If anyone says anything, just scream "ACAB!" and bust a window. If the people you have business with raise an eyebrow, apologize profusely and bust their window. Run out screaming "I can't breef!!!" You'll be fine.
