I'm of the opinion that the Tea Party only fell off because it lost internal momentum. I think people underestimate the reciprocal effects the Libertarian and Tea Party movements had on politics, which we still see to this day even if people don't agree with them.
It's predetermined that these movements, if successful, will be made more mainstream and maybe even disappear into it. The point is that in the process the mainstream is also slightly moved in a new direction. It's less like dragging a huge boat and more like playing with chemical compositions in a lab. We saw this exact same thing on on the Left; the only reason the Democrats are where they are today is the efforts of the DSA and their offshoot groups. I mean, he could probably spin "America First" as just being a generic pro-america phrase, but using the term "Anglo-Saxon" just sounds like Klan rhetoric, because it is. Personally, I’ve always considered “Anglo” to refer to English culture, which would include Scots (lowland) and Welsh because their identity is so heavily influenced by the English. Gaels/Irish are their own thing however.

The vast majority of “founding fathers” were brought up with Anglo culture/ideals, even if their last name has a double L or begins with Mc.

There’s a lot of xenophobia among the founding fathers about German/Irish immigration (Germanophobia and Hiberniaphobia I guess) because they disliked how they were distinctly not Anglo, in ways how many White Americans dislike Latino immigration as they see it eroding “White America” with something else.

Point is American identity began with Anglo identity, then yielded to a broader “white” identity, and will now continue to transform into something that’ll accommodate Latinos.
