Yeah, that sounds great until they peacefully protest your neighbourhood to the ground, but it's all fun and games when it's not where you live, right? I also wonder what she thinks about the Washington DC incident on January 6? Or does that not count as a legitimate form of protest because it's the other team doing it?

The key word there is "good faith discussion." In doublespeak terms, that means "yes, I'd love to hear about why I'm correct, please feel free to come tell me."

These people literally cannot debate with anyone who disagrees with them. They're the victims of indoctrination, so they don't have any fundamental understanding of why they believe what they believe. They literally can't explain things outside of repeating the mantras of faith they have been given. Plus, as post-modernists, they believe their feelings are as good, if not superior, to any facts that get in their way. This pseudo-religious thinking means they come to a conclusion -- rioting is ok! -- and work backwards from there to justify it.

You'd have a better, more fulfilling discussion with an old AOL Instant Messenger Chat bot.

I still remember when I took a cinema class in college. It started out fine, but eventually, it devolved into the instructor and classmates calling out how many of the outdated cliches and the like were mostly done by white heterosexual male filmmakers. Once person even stated that heterosexuality is overrated, with much of the class agreeing. Even the "male gaze" term ended up being on the list of key ones that we had to memorize.

Really took away a lot of my enthusiasm for that class.

Yeah it's out of control on college campuses. I am currently going to college in a rural conservative area and the college here is almost as bad as any other. I remember in one of my general education courses my professor made the whole class "express our feelings and grief" when Jacob Blake was shot. The professor then went on an hour long screed about how evil, racist and white supremacist the system is. This class didn't even have anything to do with history or sociology. It seems like the only sane professors on campus nowadays are the business and economics professors. I also had a "non-binary" RA which was a nightmare. Every month we'd have a floor meeting and during the first meeting we all had to state our pronouns before speaking.
