Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Adding my 2 cents to the Whang subject, I think he's pretty charismatic and has good comedic timing with his choice of visual aid stock footage and edits. He's not as in-depth as internet historian but for the stuff he talks about I don't think there's really any need to. He's just there to share stories of random weird shit you may or may not have heard of before.

I feel like he's settled into this position of trying to boost awareness of ongoing topics or getting people to get interested in exploring something on their own. It comes off as lazy but it lets people decide if they want to look into a topic further or not while also keeping his uploads digestable if someone isn't really that into it.

Guess I stumbled upon a lolcow without knowing it
Yes, and now I have to post this:

Most "horror" youtubers don't talk about horror at all, and talk about topics that would actually be interesting to learn about if they didn't put on a retarded spooky voice and music. I feel like it's a dick move to talk about real things involving mental illness and stuff and exaggerate it into some weird spooky campfire story.

I don't even know why they do it, as they'd probably attract the same number of viewers if they just left that stuff out and talked about the topics normally. There's a bunch of good YouTubers that talk about obscure and mysterious topics without doing that, and they're much nicer to watch and attract the same number of views.

You know what's a true internet mystery? I swear I've unsubscribed from Whang multiple times but he keeps popping up in my subs.

Just saw some pic of his bloody eye in my feed and low and behold I was subscribed somehow.

I know I've went out of my way to block things like CNN and they'll suddenly return on my front page a few days later so maybe it's just YT being dumb.

First time I've seen this kiddo, and I already don't like him. He just seems forced, and all the shaming of the viewers that doesn't freak out by everything. At least the mophead have some charisma, and holy fuck. He plans to collaborate with him further.

i remember seeing icebergs on /x/ so its an old format. just must be gaining popularity I guess...

It's also easy to digest and someone viewing it gets to see some things they're familiar with towards the top, then get to see some new things further down, or feel really cool when something they recognize is towards the bottom.

The better way to do an Iceberg is to get actually interesting points, create a solid, in-depth video for each point (focusing on the point, not your feelings or why it’s located where it is) and have an overview video that either summarizes each point or is a combination of all the videos in order. But that would require work.

Yeah, I remember them from years ago but all the sudden these videos are populating my recommended now even with my extremely aggressive algorithm pruning on that account.

Same here, just assumed they are the new YT trend as youtube has a habit of those (like those ask reddit robot videos). Some of them are interesting, but others dont make much sense (in iceberg format) just seems like they are jumping on the bandwagon.
