General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

As much as you can trust YouTube polls, Moona has one going with various language streaming options. After about an hour mix only has 75% with 10k votes. The vote count seems high, but I expected the ID trolls to brigade the ID only option.[ATTACH Screenshot_20210424-143646.jpg

During her superchat reading yesterday, Ame talked about how she wanted to start a podcast.

-It'll have rotating guests and different segments
-A new set/background
-Episodes will be available every two weeks
-Different format from Holotalk

It seems it's still in the beginning stages of being planned. And she will make a formal announcement in the future. Timestamp to where she brings it up.

I'm a bit on the fence about this. On one hand, it's nice that Watson's trying to expand her horizons a bit. On the other hand though, she doesn't strike me as being verbose to the point where she can carry and guide a long-form conversation format (marathon SC-readings aside). I guess it will depend on the length and format after all, but it would be good to have another angle on her character schtick beyond being the resident FPS gremlin-slash-tech-person in the group.

I go back and forth on Gura. "Shorkbrain" is a meme for a reason, but other times she seems unreasonably sharp and aware. On the other side, despite the act she puts on I'm fairly confident Haachama is much smarter than she seems.
I'd characterize her more as being ditzy/scatterbrained rather than dumb. You don't get this successful on two internet careers across two different streaming personalities/accounts by being dumb - and we all know what dumb looks like - just look at all the lolcow content here in KF.

Her viewership will go to shit (its not doing that great now) and in 3 months they will decide to keep it mixed as it was before. By then the damage will be done.
Catering to newfag ID viewers who you're not sure you'll retain long-term at the cost of alienating/freezing out a major part of their long-term EOP fanbase is definitely a concern. I think the worst ID girls to be hit by this policy if it does extend to ID Gen2 would be Ollie and Reine as they both have pretty sizeable EOP audiences.

She even characterizes herself that way, openly stating that she's an airhead/scatterbrain. She clearly can get distracted when she's not devoting effort to hyper-focus so she misses/forgets things, but on the other hand you can see her skills developing in real time when she's playing something like Super Metroid.

>Cover: "Don't do anything that could disrupt the status quo. Stop doing weird things. Do not deviate from expectations."

>Also Cover: "Lets completely fuck with the status quo by making our talent stop doing mixed language streams even though the entire fanbase of holoID was built on mixed language streams and comes from a highly multilingual culture."

Cover management are total morons if they think segmenting the market by language will bring in more viewers. It's like as if they don't understand which demographic actually spends money in the ID market. Here's a hint: It's probably not uneducated IOPs who don't understand the bare minimum amount of basic English required to enjoy a holoID stream (which will get live TLd anyways).

Isn't Pekora an even worse shut-in than Aqua?

They're called cover because as soon as the shit hits the fan, they run for it while leaving their talent unprotected.

Most of Indonesian whining about it are probably kids or actual retards who cannot be bothered to listen to English. Like, it's easy, eitther you stay or GTFO to groups that caters to Indonesian viewers such as Nijisanji ID or Maha5. Cover shouldn't bow down to idiots who cannot be appeased. The status quo is great, no one complained about it, why even bother to change that?

I ran across an indie (I think) ENvtuber named Kaibu. From the limited content I saw, she seems fairly wholesome and not "peepee poopoo, haha dicks and titties" like Vshojo.

Anyone else seen her or have an opinion?

Nyanners has released a new song before the concert with Kizuna AI tonight.

Got some nice citypop vibes, composed by kissmenerdygirl and published by the Japanese label Interlabel.

Also first 10 minutes of tonights Kizuna AI concert should be streamed live on on her youtube channel and you can apparently buy tickets at any point tonight, in case that 10 minutes hooks you.

today we will be discussing and exploring the complexity of the human mind. We'll also take a look at the importance of proteins, specifically glutenin and gliadin and what happens when they interact with H2 o. Join me as we take an educational deep dive into the world of saccharomyces cerevisiae , aka bakers yeast. pizza
Don't let yourself fall for her tricks, the shark knows plenty of things.

I looked up Kaibu and apparently today is her official debut (now, in fact) and she changed her name from Kaibu to Moggii which is kinda a bad change imo but whatever.

Kaibu sounds better.

At this point, there's at least dozens of other indie ENvtubers out there that don't rely on the juvenile/adult schtick that Vshojo often does. It doesn't mean they're gonna be interesting though. Are they funny? Do they have a unique gimmick/trait? Do they have personality? Are they entertaining at least? If not then they're not really doing anything that makes it worth the watch over the actual established corpos in Niji/Cover that are actually entertaining.

Today is her official debut, one thing I think is a bad idea is to put herself out there as Kaibu then change her name upon debut. Apparently Moggii comes from a British term for a mixed breed cat but unless you're from Britain, you're probably not going to get the reference unless pointed out, Kaibu I just accepted as a name.

It seems weird, imagine if Artemis changed her name upon debut after being known for months as Artemis. It would be debuting at a disadvantage kinda.

E: something I found funny peeking in on the debut, someone popped into chat, introduced themselves as a gay dude with they/them pronouns and later said Astolfo taught them they were gay. I have not seen her acknowledge this obvious attempt to grab attention.
