General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Don't let yourself fall for her tricks, the shark knows plenty of things.
Gawr Gura, the shark loli idol who is actually a comedian, who is actually a silly but innocent girl, who is actually an alcoholic gremlin, who is actually not drunk but still a memelord, who is actually a talented voice actress and a pretty decent person.

Holy, I'm not expecting a karaoke from Ina today. Pleasant surprise!

EDIT: Just read the ID stuff. I saw Moona's poll on her YT Community Post and I thought it was just some shit they wanna try out/are curious. I didn't know it was that serious.

I go back and forth on Gura. "Shorkbrain" is a meme for a reason, but other times she seems unreasonably sharp and aware. On the other side, despite the act she puts on I'm fairly confident Haachama is much smarter than she seems.
I unironically think she's a genius held back by a 5 second attention span. Somewhat related, tds.png

Also Gura's dropping a lot of lore this stream

Really late to the conversation about Holo ID's sudden approach to speaking more of their native language, and honestly surprised there there is even any kerfuffle about it. However, someone on reddit did raise an interesting point on why management is suddenly focused on a... problem(?) that would need addressing.
Among the Big 3 of ID vtubers agency (HoloID, NijiID, and Maha5), Maha5 is the one that's having a most unique kind of fans. Somehow they could attracts a lot of teenage weebs who doesn't know the existence of other vtubers. Being a teenagers, a lot of them haven't be able to understands English. So whenever they found out about HoloID who speaks a lot of English, they got gatekeeped, sometimes they would directly confront the girls to speaks Indonesian because they're Hololive Indonesia.

It's just my own humble opinion, but I think the HoloID management also wanted to bring them into the fandom. Maha5 is no joke, their most subbed vtuber is a male with 450k subs, more than Risu, and almost all of them are Indonesian.

And about the local partnership, I've seen NijiID and Maha5 in local news, albeit it's just a few articles, but I've never seen any news about HoloID. It seems like the HoloID are already out of touch with their local market and maybe they want to get back to their roots to monetize their popularity locally.
Likely the logic behind testing a more ID-focused approach is because, even with international support, ID is still flagging behind in competition both in and out of the country. If it works, then that's just how it is. If it fails, then back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I kinda get the feeling Gura is a southerner after the BBQ question. I always assumed she was from like, upper east coast for some reason.

Gura's most embarrassing purchase: A stress ball shaped like a boobie.
In case she is acting it all up, she deserves a fucking medal: faking being so wholesome for so long.
And no, occasional booba here and there don't count esp if you take into account the state of EN side of chuubas.

Jesus Christ some guy send a red sc on how his dog die 1 hour before the stream and how watching Gura is helping him get thru it and the next red sc was My dog die let's goooo and then the next red sc is a guy saying how he's dog is alive and happy, must suck being the first guy.

Just adding my two cents after seeing the ID discussion, but i wonder what made cover branched out to ID in the first place? did they not do market research beforehand? what made them think "ah yes let's open up a branch in some backwater country that has no superchat feature available, surely we will profit from this ". Sure the moderate success of JKT48 and the low running cost made it seem like a safe-low risk investment, but i still think it's not good enough reason to justify opening up a branch there, experimental they may be.

It's a whole different story for EN however as it's easily a nobrainer and it was the next logical step to capitalize the ever growing demography that is western anime fans with how mainstream anime has become in recent years, it's basically a goldmine.

Don't get me wrong though, i think the ID girls are great since we got hidden gems in Moona, Risu and breakout character like Ollie and they were basically prototype EN in a way.

Over 3k questions sent in, and she says only a few of them were weird.

Also her schedule is as much of a surprise for her as it is for us.

A country that has over twice the population of Japan, where a lot of people speak Japanese?
