What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

Omniverse's style suits the tone it's going for. The same goes for the Alola arc in Pokemon which is why I can't really call it "bad" per se.

I have not watched it in a while but I will give props to ok ko for being kinda different, give background characters an inkling of depth, reference shit properly and have better animation/character design then the entirety of SU. The bar is low but, could be worse

Enid's mom was unexpected, even i will admit. She gives me mexican Elvira/Morica vibes and throws the removal of tits/Ms bellum from ppg, argument, out the window as several other ok ko female characters are brick houses.


I never understood the hate for Omniverse as it felt more like the original series then the ben 10 in HS series with the same artstyle as most shows at that time.
The art style was a breath of fresh air, had cool aliens instead of using alien x every single time and Rook was fun. Like a slightly pg 13 lethal weapon/ men in black.

=Then again i grew up with the og series and was the age demographic of, grew up on samurai jack/dexter lab, and also in the toon lul of happy friendship shows and live action schlock.

I thought you were joking, until I saw Captain Planet, and then recognized the friendly girl monsters from one of those 80's Scooby Doo movies. The fuck is this mess?

I mean, I get it being sort of a passion project Ian wanted to do, but the show sucked at being , whatever it wanted to be.

The og artstyle was decent as well for a show like that. this seems to leave out the live action and the cgi one that happened during the edgy HS ark. Omniverse looked like scooby doo mystery incorporated, and the transformers animaterd shows that were pretty action focused, unlike the 2008 one. Ben looks bouncy, and pretty fluid, reminds me of the newest ninja turtles rise or the cancelled (flash animated) motor city series.

It's just a guy inserting stuff he loves, but yeah OK KO never really took off like his wife's show did. For all the teeth gnashing about SU's anime references it still has its own identity on top of that. I think kids would rather just watch My Hero Academia than KO and that hurt it a fair bit.

They really exaggerated Ash's weird, z-shaped birthmark things under his eyes. He looks like a Mexican teenager there.

I still don't understand why they changed the style seeing as how when you look at movie posters and screencaps they still use the old style for those.

I really do think the alternate universe movies started because they realized no one would want to watch a movie with the ridiculous zany cartoon artstyle. Nevertheless, the CG Mewtwo Strikes Back remake looked really weird too.

Ash and Misty look like weird porcelain dolls, Brock looks fine but that's due to having closed eyes so he naturally has an advantage.

For some reason I thought that Japan's attempts at disney tier cgi would be alot better. Considering hatsune miku and final fantasy being among some cgi media that are doing ok. Honestly earwig and the witch looking fresh outta 2005 was surreal for a ghibli title.

Misty and Ash have to be the same model, they look identical

Check out the new Lupin the Third: The First it's probably the nicest looking CGI anime movie I've seen and the characters are adapted perfectly to the new style. You won't mistake it for Disney, but it makes me optimistic for the future of 3D Japanese movies.

Japan and Disney use to work together and Japan use to copy the Disney style so I am not saying it is a bad thing haha.

Disney cgi is just spectacle drivel at the moment, a means to a 'copy and pasted model', end where near everything has to be a 3d model.

I was surprised the tom and jerry movie showed some restraint and drew over models, a nice touch. But the space jam movie turns all the toons into 3d renders for some reason. Like a gimmick.
Dragon quest: your story and Lupin looks pretty good, like the characters blend into a lived in world. Meanwhile Frozen just looks like an asset pack. its so flat and plain, the lighting is cold and hurts. A bit like Earwig.

I could be full of shit but, im tired of 3d being used as a copout for effort, when the modeling and animation take so much work. It reminds me of the "looks like shitty Flash" argument when Flash can be used plenty competently. Its a tool ffs

I don't necessarily dislike this, but it's just so weird. The characters look like they really are Japanese.

Some people would put in kingdom hearts or the Final Fantasies of the late and early 2000s here but at least they fit a style they were aiming for no matter how dated the edginess looks. We would need to find the autistic version of it with more edge that it was amazing the person drawing it didn't shoot up their school.

God help the Sonic fandom not only have Sega ruined the franchise by releasing either soso or shit tittles. But the fanbase turned into edgetards with feet fetishes despite Sega moving the franchise away from its edge phase since 2006.

I kinda like the bottom left one, to be honest. He looks like a jester that would punt tails across a field like a piss colored football. Not too edgy, but not very good either

These designs have pretty bad same-face syndrome, a style too simplistic for its own good and could easily pass for Steven Universe characters. The characters frankly look like poorly-done caricatures to me. For further information, these 2 posts can be of use.

I dunno, SU characters don't tend to have the iconic tumblr nose. These guys would stick out for sure.
