I think Kevin is having a breakdown. he is probably trying to prove that he isn't the one sabotaging her dreams by being so aggressive when posting, not even realizing that his behavior is making people want to avoid Lori's content even more because he is acting like some crazy dude.

Kevin has made his bed and now has been forced to sleep in it. He reached out for help to get away from his abusive girlfriend and his family and friends actually came to get him out. After everything, he believes that the people who stepped in to help him to get out are actually the reason why he has such a turbulent relationship with Lori. He probably guilt-tripped his mom into letting Lori stay with them because it's partially his mother's fault that things got so shitty -- after all he just "sometimes posts random stupid crap on Facebook".

Spoiler: Before friends and family intervened...

Before his friends & family intervened, and before Lori moved out to Utah, Kevin was actually friends with his mom on Facebook. They are not friends anymore. Kevin is friends with his brother, which I assume is only because Kevin has been cut off (or he cut them out as per Lori's demand) by the rest of his family and his brother wants to keep tabs and check in on his wellbeing time to time (and will give fake ass--pats to be allowed to keep an eye on his little brother).

His mom begrudgingly let Lori stay because Kevin guilt-tripped them by telling them that they "made things worse". Kevin's mother probably didn't want to try to fight it any more than she already had because it means creating more distance between her and her son, even if their decisions are fucking stupid. So what do you do when you feel like you're helplessly inadvertently influencing your son and his shitty middle-aged girlfriend's bad behavior and co-dependency? Sell the house and move. Lori wasn't in a hurry to move out; she was more than happy to stay in her partially finished attic room. I'm sure Kevin's mom got to hear her share of arguments between Kevin and Lori too.

This is when Kevin's mom and dad decided it was as good a time as ever to just decide to start their "retirement dream" by selling the house and moving which forced Kevin to move the heck out and removed Lori from their (mom and dad) life. Lori does not have a good relationship with her parents. Her father used to send her a little money when she lived in Washington, but iirc they kinda went their separate ways. She avoids her mother because her mom is super religious.

Lolcow seems to think that Kevin is deliberately sabotaging Lori by going and picking random fights on all these websites. He’s crushing both of them by being an absolute idiot. There is no way that he thinks this is good “promotion.”

I don't know about that part. Most of the defensive retorts are things Lori obsesses over: being small, looking young, ageism and editing herself. Kevin usually jumps to defending behavior then complimenting her. The fact his rants are longer (like Lori rants length) and like hyper-focused on those topics makes me think she's getting her last words in via those accounts they cleaned up and Kevin's facebook.
