Assuming it were possible, I'd argue yes and no.

Fictional marriage would have to be legally divorced (heh) from the real thing, otherwise it'd fuck up a lot of autists' taxes and disability bux. The only thing I could ever see happening is them inventing some way to declare yourself as "in a union" in some legally documented way, maybe a contract with the character's owner, etc. It'd have to be something handled differently than IRL marriage.

I just put way too much thought into this.

If waifu marriage were legal, imagine the meltdowns when they tried to register for a new marriage license and they found out the waifu in question was already married. In a universe where this is a thing, I assume the poly cult got their wish and polygamy is already legal but from what I gather, the waifu crowd does not like to share.
