I don't know about that. Through my job I met couple of PhDs and some of them were really... exceptional people. One woman I met had similar lifestory to this Bradfinn speaks about. She had alcoholic father, get out of house quickly, married early and divorced early, then get into relationship with dude 20 years older and left him because he's becoming too old (yes, really).

Oh, for sure. Having a PhD obviously doesn't mean that a person can't become a lolcow or end up wasting their life away as a Reddit "Nazi hunter". I just think, on the balance of things, the chances of Steve being yet another MTF troon that is consumed by narcissism and delusions of grandeur and is therefore lying about their accomplishments is far more likely.

An old high school friend of mine has a PhD, but he ended up getting into hard drugs, fucking his life up big time, and now he works in a factory doing order picking, where he's worked for 10 years, earning just over the minimum wage. He looks like Gandalf, with a big long grey beard and grey hair. He's been off the drugs for years, but was never able to get his life back on track, but the difference between him and Steve is, he's totally honest about his life, where he went wrong and so on. With Steve, there's just so much obvious bullshit coming out of him, that I find it hard to believe a word he says.

In another comment about this he described the woman as a "lover." Knowing his tendency to DARVO...I'm willing to bet that if something resembling this took place, this lover of his invited him on the cruise with the agreement that he'd lay down a little cash to cover drinks, fun...etc. And then when she spent some of the money, he got aggressive and demanding of sex and she told him to GTFO of the cabin or she'd report him to authorities. Because this is a large dude that's over six feet tall. And he actually has a documented history of abusing a woman.

Keep in mind a pink slappy mark is technically a 'bruise', and considering they were talking about a spank on the buttocks being the catalyst of the argument with his spouse, I don't think it's likely that he did anything worse than slap the kid's ass and leave a red mark, which is still considered normal parenting to the majority of people. The people I've seen trying to frame it like he beat his kid black and blue are being willfully disingenuous.

To which I would add - if anyone (preferably a 300lb MMA champion) irl could offer to beat the living shit out Tardfinn, and with every blow say "don't hit women or little children, this is what it feels like" until he is a bloody sobbing mess, I would give them money. Crowdfunder anyone?
