Sorry, I've blacked out on V-Tuber drama recently.

What's this about Chan's and Ollie?

Longstory short, they dug up an old stream collab she did with Melfissa and Reine, and timestamped the moments where she's moaning oddly at the end. It was assumed (by them) that she was getting fingered or, fingering herself mid-stream, and because this is 4chan we're talking about, they began pestering her about it over and over nonstop.
Add to that what appears to be a prexisting mental instability and being prone to deep bursts of sadness, and people are jumping to the conclussion that she's bipolar or manic depressive or the unabomber.

I understand taking a break from twitter and streaming to deal with her mental health, but it doesn't sound like a good idea to ghost hololive for the duration of the break (she said she's going offline on discord too).

She should keep in touch with her genmates at the very least. She mentioned feeling distant with them, this break would be a good opportunity to meet up irl again and have a girls talk.

I sure hope that's but a figure of speech and Moona + her manager tard-wrangling her enough to still be somewhat in contact. Strength of Hololive lies in behind the scene interacting. how the talents more or less legit care for each other in a sisterhood of sort. Not all of them are close friend with each other, sure, but they at least look out for one another.

Ollie can go radio silent, but she would be throwing away one of the more useful support network and people who actually understand what she's going through. I don't think SEAs psychologist will truly understand the mental scars of a Vtuber as well as another Vtuber.

The most vicious chinks are the most visible ones and they give a bad name to all vtuber fans in China, but also none of the normal people protested loud enough against the antis' actions - at least this is my impression. I think they decided to remain silent not to be labeled as "anti-patriotic" and only now, when everyone is tired of antis' crap and considers them as a shitstain that needs to be cleaned asap, they decided to speak up.

She was lucky to get in - but she worked hard to earn that lottery ticket and I respect that a lot.

Also: either due to cultural cross-pollination, or other method of DNA transfer (?!), there seems to be some resemblance between Gura's new outfit silhouette and Matsuri's nekomimi version, as noticed by Matsuri herself:

IIRC, they get to have input on their character designs, particularly during the initial pitch at audition. Whether that continues beyond the initial debut design wasn't really quite known - but we do know that most of their artist mom/dads are fans themselves and view their streams a lot so if/when the talent expresses a design preference onstream, the artists may take that into account when designing their next outfits.

Cover is pretty inept when it comes to some things, but I doubt they tell the talents to STFU deal with it when it comes to their outfits. I imagine it's a collab mostly between the talent and the actual artists, and then it runs through Cover for adjustments before their final approval.

If they're doing an entire Generation's outfits at the same time I imagine Cover gives a guidline like "New Years themed" or something along those lines, but the one-offs like Pekora's prison outfit I doubt they had a large hand in.

I think one of the girls did said that most of the time they just request for new costumes or new looks. Kinda pass along the request to management team and they will make formal official request to the artist (payment, rigging etc.).
This probably why Pekora does not have many outfits due to her being anti social offstream.
Nene is a special case since her redesign was brought up by Nishizawa sensei herself I believe (to rid of all west Taiwan influence) and put her culture to good use (paizuri hole etc.)

I'm not even sure what Cover's incentive would be to exercise more than the loosest control over avatar design. Talent that are comfortable wearing their avatar are going to last longer, and to get good value for the money on a new outfit you need the talent to actually want to use it. Just give some direction for the general concept ("mythological figures") and veto obvious bad ideas ("no uyoku dantai outfits").

I was actually hoping to lean INTO it more. With Huke as her designer, and that Sentai like device on her belt, I was hoping for a full bore Sentai outfit as an alternate. Plus, she would have an excuse to go 'full power' and remove the Chicken limiters and use her full voice if she wanted to.

at first I thought she's building some kind of foundation and/or wants to farm glass, but she's still on it what feels like weeks now, wtf is she gonna put on it? she also doesn't just put a layer on top or clears an area and builds it lower, she's literally setting up several football fields worth of solid sand...

doubt she's going full unabomber, even if probably not for long. they most likely have each other as contacts on line or whatever they use over there. the real issue will be to fill that void of time she suddenly has, you can only spend so many hours each day with introspection and self evaluation before going crazy.

In one of the months she tweeted only 85 times, meanwhile Fubuki did 1272 and that's a low number for her. It's pretty unusual for sure. I think she simply might not care for social media in general, given that her roommate accounts are also utterly derelict. I guess this behavior in particular is because she didn't feel like writing anything.

She probably has deep, fulfilling IRL friendships and good relations with her parents.
