Isn't Umaru like a middle schooler or something? And also portrayed as a disgusting otaku when not at school?

...

I think I already know the answer to these questions.

There is no way to 'date your waifu' without looking like a weirdo.

The replies are as predictable as they come.

I'm busy right now I'll let someone else tear this a new one if they want.

Going into some waifu history, everybody here should know about the story of Pygmalion, a Greek sculptor who was disgusted with 3D women and sought to craft the image of a “perfect” woman, free from the flaws of real women which he proceeded to fall in love with. Aphrodite was so touched by his devotion to his waifu that she made his waifu real.

All the waifuists in this thread should learn from the OG waifufag. Maybe if you loved your waifu more, Aphrodite would make her real too.

Don't give them ideas, this will push them to sui- On second thought, yes give them ideas.

Oh trust me, as much fun as that idea sounds like, I don't want to see something like this ever again.

Take it a step further. What did Pygmalion do? He created an extremely lifelike sculpture out of ivory - which takes months of careful work and craftsmanship, not to mention the years of honing his craft before getting started. What do the people in this subreddit and discord do? The posts speak for themselves: very little in the way of prolonged effort to venerate their "statue". It's more for coping with their statue not being real, jerking each other off with the daily schizo exercises and every once in a while saying "it's k bruh, she loves u for u" and "She loves you too!" when their sanity manages to surface.

How about: even in the extremely hypothetical, miraculous scenario that it came into this world or you went to theirs, no they wouldn't love you for you, and in fact they'd probably look at you only with disgust and detached amusement, while you get trampled to death by a sea of horny people who did something other then post obscene art and sperg scenario of the day discussions on a waifu reddit.

It's a fair point. I'm not sure the effort Pygmalion put into Galatea is really that different in kind or degree to the effort waifuists put into their own obsessions (talent, yes, kind and effort no), but without divine intervention, I think it's preposterous to assume that a waifu, made real and given free agency, would choose to date these people.

Has anyone ever encountered a waifuist who's "settled" for an imperfect waifu? Like he was originally looking for some busty teenage anime girl to live wild with, but he eventually wound up with a fictional 47 year old, twice-divorced fat woman, simply because it was the best he could do and he didn't want to be lonely? Maybe he saw a cartoon in highschool, didn't really fancy the girl character at the time and lost touch after graduation, but then twenty years later they met at a reunion and were like, well, we're both unmarried and time's ticking so, whatever, might as well be lonely together?

I genuinely enjoy Daudelette's art. He's (?) got an aggressively Realist style; not afraid to draw himself as he is, "warts and all", which is always something I find rather refreshing in self-inserts.
