This has been the horrifying realization for me, finding out how many people, who I considered had half a brain, tell me they didn't know they were supposed to wash their hands before they ate after riding the subway. They also couldn't tell that getting the chills of a fever, and feeling freezing all over, wasn't because they were actually freezing all over, and they were actually ALREADY really sick. Previous to this they would swear up and down that "getting cold" meant they were EVENTUALLY going to get sick.

Now I am starting to wonder what other "common sense" nuggets they have been hiding from me.

I was speaking to a non-retarded friend of mine recently and pointed out that half of why people were asked to wear masks was because they never covered their mouths when they coughed or sneezed and she stopped dead in her tracks and just sat there for a solid minute thinking about it.

Also, I still love these people that claim that their own lives are in danger even if they got the vaccine and wear a mask because someone else didn't. Yes, I understand that the more people that do it the lesser the chances, but maybe that also says more about the effectiveness anyway.


Also, if politicians really wanted to help ease people's fears, then they would have all shown up at the Joint Session this week and not wear masks. But when every single member of Congress and staff (I think) are vaccinated, and they are STILL social distancing and wearing masks indoors, then you are telling people there's no point in the vaccine if nothing changes. And I love people that say "they need to wear masks to set a good example", except no they are actually setting the "wrong example." They SHOULD be setting the example that we're all vaccinated now so we get to take off our masks and get close. But no, because a lot of them don't even want restrictions lifted so long as they keep their emergency powers.

The term "anti-vax" in the context of the coof is such a misnomer. The people who are against taking the jabs aren't "anti-vax," they're simply against these new covid specific vaccines that are supposed to protect against a sickness with a ridiculously high recovery rate. That's not taking into account the obvious political baggage and hypocrisy behind the supposed measures to #stop the spread.

This is exactly it. I got all my vaccines as a kid, and, as far as I know, I'm not autistic. (Although, I am posting on here, so maybe they did give it to me.) I just don't trust this particular vaccine. I'm not at risk; I'm young, in shape, with a decent diet, and no underlying conditions. The risk Covid presents to me is so minimal, I have no reason to worry about it. Maybe, as I get older, or if I develop a condition which does put me at risk for Covid, I'll give the vaccine a shot, once more long term data is available, but as of now, I don't want it, fuck off, stop trying to guilt me into it, or dangling my freedoms in front of me like Lucy with the football. I'm sick of basic freedoms being painted as selfish. I should have the freedom to not go through with what I consider to be an unnecessary medical procedure, simple as

I've been checked out for the last few hundred pages. (Needed a break from coronavirus, sticking to Kelly and Luna body horror type stuff.) I know some of us think the vaccine is the devil's microchip, but let's say I wanted to just get the vaccine passport and be able to go to a concert again.

Which vaccine, at this point, is looking the safest? (Especially for middle-aged women at risk of blood clots.) I trust this forum to have more intelligent science-literate people, where any other social media forum is all political posturing. (We'd have to "discourse" about "vaccine-shopping".) Has there been enough data collected on safety and side effects yet to compare?

Pfizer–BioNTech, for sure. It's been tested for the longest, and the side effects are somewhat better than Moderna. Any of the viral vector vaccines still use mRNA inside the cell, but in theory they would have better error detection, but I think the blood clot issue is enough to counterbalance that. Israel used the Pfizer vaccine only to good effect, and the US has administered about 100 million doses as well. It has also been used the longest in the US and other actual large populations.

Right now I can't bring myself to get the vaccine for one simple reason: it will not change my life in the slightest. I still can't do what I want to do, I still can't work in the workplace or gather with friends anywhere. I still have to buy and wear masks. I would basically have to pretend that I never got the vaccine until it wears off six months later.

So why do it?
