The bigger question is what business does America have in the Crimea and Black Sea.

We're trying to prevent Russia from having a monopoly on natural gas to the EU. Same reason we're in Syria. The Qatar-Turkey pipeline was another way to back door Russia's natural gas control but Bashar Al-Asad told us to go fuck ourselves. Now there's a civil war and glowniggers are selling chemical weapons to the Islamic fundamentalists trying to overthrow the Syrian government. I'm assuming they'll allow us to build the pipeline which is why we are helping them.

Its a long and complicated mess, but the tl;dr of it all is that the West has claimed the Med as its Mare Nostrum dating back to uh... well, the 1830's, following the end of the Barbary Pirates. The US really doesn't want Europe to have easy access to Russian oil and NG because 1. petroleum exports are the only thing keeping the Russians from totally collapsing, and 2. that's oil and NG they could be buying from the US instead.

Glorifying treason and slavery is nonsensical and the majority of those statues were put up during the Reconstruction period to strike fear into black people.

1) Most of those statues were put up during the turn of the last century. Reconstruction ended in 77, meaning those statues didn't go up till 20 years after. By which point "them niggers" were already whupped.

It goes a little beyond that, to varying degrees of stupidity.

First; while their emissions are net zero there is the real issue of where to store depleted uranium.
Second; There is a degree of "not In My Backyard" here. Solar panels can be put out of sight, and wind turbines almost add to the view. A big old nuclear plant is a blight on the landscape, if very effective.
Third; Many legitimately believe the steam coming out of them is pollution.
Fourth; It provides jobs primarily to the middle class, and is harder to unionize than most do to requiring trained but not college-level knowledge for most roles. The left, ironically, tends to hate the proles.

Merkel told Biden to pound sand, but that was mostly about a natural gas pipeline, even biden wasnt stupid enough to talk about oil.

and Germany is giving up nuclear because its to expensive. you pretty much cant build new ones and the old ones were getting to the end of their lifetime, so major upgrades would have been needed. The solution is wind and solar and not more russian gas. there is solar on pretty much every roof with the right direction in southern germany and northern germany has massive windparks. the solar works pretty well in peak times and the wind is so steady that it can be used as baseload,

the north sea is pretty much perfect for Wind energy. Denmark is at over 50% of wind energy with many days of exporting energy to germany for direct use and norway for storage.

It makes a lot of sense for europe to go green. domestic build and used Wind energy is much better than imported oil.

The biggest problem with power plants is where to store the waste. We had a perfect place in Nevada. It was in the middle of the fucking desert, where there were no water tables to leak to, but Harry Ried put the kibosh on that.

We literally can't store nuclear waste in the middle of the fucking desert so its kind of hard to build new nuclear plants when you can't answer the question as to where you are going to put the waste.
