It's a fair point. I'm not sure the effort Pygmalion put into Galatea is really that different in kind or degree to the effort waifuists put into their own obsessions (talent, yes, kind and effort no), but without divine intervention, I think it's preposterous to assume that a waifu, made real and given free agency, would choose to date these people.
Has anyone ever encountered a waifuist who's "settled" for an imperfect waifu? Like he was originally looking for some busty teenage anime girl to live wild with, but he eventually wound up with a fictional 47 year old, twice-divorced fat woman, simply because it was the best he could do and he didn't want to be lonely? Maybe he saw a cartoon in highschool, didn't really fancy the girl character at the time and lost touch after graduation, but then twenty years later they met at a reunion and were like, well, we're both unmarried and time's ticking so, whatever, might as well be lonely together?
I genuinely enjoy Daudelette's art. He's (?) got an aggressively Realist style; not afraid to draw himself as he is, "warts and all", which is always something I find rather refreshing in self-inserts.
Yeah, that's certainly true. I'm assuming the self-inset character looks like a hideous frog-monster because the artist himself looks like a hideous frog-monster (much like Manda-Tee and her Barney Gumble looking insert), but that's just my assumption. The Realist elements could very well be unintentional. Not sure. He could be trying to draw himself like Handsome Squidward and be failing miserably at it.
Honestly if he’s this much of a mental basket case they should just ban him already. I’d be uncomfortable as fuck in their place.
He mostly keeps his most severe insanity to his own profile.Honestly if he’s this much of a mental basket case they should just ban him already. I’d be uncomfortable as fuck in their place.
A shame, if they at least channeled their waifu autism into getting super good at drawing then they could just pass as excentric artists with Quixotesque character. Their crazy bullshit will at least have a justification as the source of their will to improve and it'd be a little bit less sad but redditors like to shoot low, so low they hit their own foot. Not sure. He could be trying to draw himself like Handsome Squidward and be failing miserably at it.
Jokes aside, I suppose if the art has some merit it's in it's shamelessness. Forgive me for being a little faithful in humanity, but I think more effort on the part of the redditors would lead to marginally better art. You can't tell me this was their best effort unless they were drawing with their feet.
Oh trust me, as much fun as that idea sounds like, I don't want to see something like this ever again.View attachment 2128520
Nah, this is the exact kind of person their community harbours. There's quite a few nutjobs if you go digging and if we want to be honest they're all bordering on schizophrenia encouraging themselves to go deeper into delusions. They just don't realize like genuine mentally unstable people are getting brought in and encouraged and it's causing stuff like this. They just scream "but it makes them happy!!"Honestly if he’s this much of a mental basket case they should just ban him already. I’d be uncomfortable as fuck in their place.
I'm surprised this guy hasn't been locked away in a mental hospital yet. On second thought, I wouldn't want to inflict that on the poor staff.
The next picasso. His waifu would be so proud.
Isn't that girl confirmed to be lesbian and that's one of the reasons why tumblr worships Undertale?Man is worried that Undyne from Undertale might not be attracted to him.
Yawn. Congratulations, you've dug up every twitter, deviantart and tumblr fangirl in existence. I'm here for the lolcows, not basic bitches of the internet.I decided to go on a deep dive with some of the more “normal” users of the sub that don’t comment as often, and the Gilgamesh girl, Diana L, is interesting.
Archive of her carrd.
Archive of her unfinished waifu carrd.
Her Twitter. (An archive of her tweets is attached.)
Her Reddit.
She seems to be a Floridian like Jordanna, and she’s also unsurprisingly fat. At least she’s vaccinated, I suppose.
She also has a room that reminds me of Niqua. Her entire personality seems to consist of just talking about the pixels she loves and being a nurse. She has to be a CNA, right? Please don’t tell me a degenerate like her is deciding if someone lives or dies. I want to believe there’s at least some good in the world.
It also seems she got into a minor spat with another user, though they were anonymous.
View attachment 2133704It evidently bothered her enough to post about it on her Twitter:

More assorted cringe from her is below.

She’s gone the way of Tara and made memes of herself.

She really wrote this for herself.

One of the major problems in communities like r/w, aside from the obvious, is the severe lack of standards, to the extent that the only persisting principle is to not hurt another member's feelings. Which, as is increasingly apparent, very easy to do. So instead of people disagreeing, bringing up the occasional controversial topic and having a little spat like regular human beings, you have what amounts to automatons reinforcing each other's degeneracy.Nah, this is the exact kind of person their community harbours. plus i feel like banning someone because they're visibly schizophrenic would not go down well for the sub
In the waifu community as a whole, sure. There's not much in the way of standards or principles (and when your community is predicated on believing that imaginary friends are real and married to you, how could there be?) But r/w seems to be a special case. One of the major problems in communities like r/w, aside from the obvious, is the severe lack of standards, to the extent that the only persisting principle is to not hurt another member's feelings. Which, as is increasingly apparent, very easy to do. From personal experience I agree with both of these points. What makes r/waifuism a genuinely horrible place to be in is not the degeneracy they practice but the cult-like mentality they force upon young and/or stupid people. How they'd like the members to experience it is, ironically, like rule 3, a hugblanket. The moderators want the users to depend on r/waifuism, That usually works for a time, until people start to branch out to other communities or they find out the hard way that the discord server is not the wonderful safe haven that's advertised. As usual with online echo chambers, they have a rule (7) against "trolling", where "trolling" is defined so broadly and subjectively (it's "offensive" - to whom? In practice, the most easily-offendable person in the community) that it essentially amounts to a blanket prohibition against criticism and divergent views; "no free speech, because we can't handle it emotionally". That's concerning, but its bog-standard for Reddit, so no surprises there. The rest of the rules, except maybe for 9, have serious problems of their own, too, most of which I won't get into.
The worst rules are (2) and (3). That community staff would actively forbid users from seeking real human relationships is frankly horrifying. This is essentially the moderators saying "you are in a cult. You will have no outside relationships. You cannot leave." I've been following waifu communities for some years now, and honestly I'd much rather see waifu communities with no standards, where people reinforce their degeneracy in a haphazard manner and individuals are free to dissent and deviate from community norms without consequence, than to see waifu communities with standards like (2) and (3).
