I know this was a couple of pages ago but I'm really shocked he's only 46. He looks...horrendously old for 46. I would have totally believed he was in his late 50s were it not for that court record.

For comparison: Martika (on right), singer, born 1969 same year as Shaner.

And Lenny probably younger than 46 in this picture...

Is there any way we can get an updates-only thread for the trial? I want to hear what our field agents have to report, but I don't wanna have to slog through 200 pages of commentary.

I give this a very strong second. This thread as a whole could do with some kind of 'greatest hits' compilation for those without the time to read through everything in order to find the idiocy-gems.

That's already a thing. The first post also has links to a bunch of the best stories. I know @Zim bowed out from active participation, but maybe he could link the discussion thread in the first post?

It was probably his most hilarious attempt to try and get this page taken down ever, since it was his most ill-thought out idea to get credibility and he went far enough to possibly hack that guy's facebook.

Len's the kinda guy who's so pathologically stupid, that after as little as a month of dealing with him, you forget some of the stupid amongst the REST of the stupid. Thanks for reminding me of the time Len hacked a Lawyer's web page while chastising us for doing illegal things...... ya can't make THIS crazy up, campers!

If he is able to hack into things why is he so terminally stupid. Unless it's a savant kind of situation

Well, in this case "hacked" seems to mean either shoulder-surfing/finding a password written out somewhere or accessing a computer with the account already logged on, especially because if I'm correct, he only did it for a fairly short period of time.

Did I miss something I thought he was just bragging the other day about how his lawyer he hired "was totally real guyz"?

He certainly has a for-real court-appointed lawyer. The big question is whether or not he will dump the lawyer and try to represent himself. As a pessimist, I think it's most likely that he'll just stare at the floor and let his court-appointed counsel do the talking for him. If he actually goes through with defending himself, it will be a goldmine of lols.

IIRC, the "hacking" bit was mostly speculation. The more realistic scenario is that Len probably purchased an old, used computer from one of the lawyer's garage sales, and said lawyer had the "Keep me logged in" box checked on his Facebook account.

Or alternatively, he had it written down on/in the computer. People often put their user:pass on a naked .txt and call it a day.

EDIT: Even if Len was looking over someone's shoulder, I sincerely doubt he has the capacity to pay attention to the keystrokes long enough to memorize what the password is.

I thought he used a website/script/app to spoof his facebook account. Earlier someone mentioned (I forget who) that even though the messages link back to the lawyer's account, the lawyer's account has no record of writing that message. Since I don't use facebook, I have no idea how that works.

I remember that, but I think it was mentioned at some point that there's some problem with doing it now that Facebook implemented to prevent precisely that. Also, the posts from Mayerson's account stopped after @Saul Goodman got in contact with his son, which is awfully suspicious timing if Lenny was just spoofing the account.

I used to be able to do that and it took a lot of practice both to pick up the skill and to maintain it. It's not as easy as it sounds unless someone is just chicken pecking with two fingers or something.

Sleep well, @Leonard F. Shaner Jr. You need to be well rested for tomorrow so you don't fuck up horribly.

I'm looking forward to him showing up later and hope everyone keeps him up extra late taunting him.

But the court documents seem to indicate that a public defender has not been provided. Or is that just me reading it wrong?
That docket sheet is all kinds of fucked up. Page 1 has "Has the Defendant Been Fingerprinted: No", but Page 2 says "6/23/2015: Certified Fingerprint Order Accepted - Magisterial District Court 38-1-11 - Leonard F Shaner, Defendant"

Also, his DOB was incorrect up until fairly recently, so it's very possible he actually does have a public defender, but it hasn't updated that yet. It also says both "Application Provided for Appointment of Public Defender: Yes", and "Advised of His Right to Apply for Assignment of Counsel: No" so I guess it's a mystery until tomorrow.

Legal psychobabble makes my head spin, so I'm way out of my element trying to decipher the minutia of it all.

I'd bet it's put together out of several forms maybe filled out by different people. The fact it had his father's DOB is probably because of some kind of thing that autofills when it thinks it knows who a person is, and his dad was already in the system for some reason or another.

I would guess he actually was provided with a form of some sort, and that triggered the Yes to that question. Maybe nobody told him what it was actually for, though.

I wouldn't read too much into weirdness on the docket sheet.

As for the fingerprint thing, I'm pretty sure that was that they didn't fingerprint him at the time, because the status updates later on indicate they sent something in the mail about the fingerprints and, apparently, got them.

God, I hope he tries to represent himself. He's foolhardy enough to try it, I think.

Go on Len, prove us wrong. All those people laughing at the idea of you representing yourself?

They don't think you can do it.

Imagine how smug you'd feel and how silly we'd look if you were your own lawyer and succeeded!
