Bolton isn't Manchester culturally, it's Lancashire. Manchester has delusions of grandeur and at least has some sort of music/art scene, Bolton does not. Don't get me wrong, Manchester sucks, but it sucks in a big city way not a horrible neglected Northern shithole with no jobs sort of way. A Manchunian will get Big Mad if you say they're from Lancashire, and if you call someone from Bolton a Manc you'll probably get a half-finished can of Special Brew slung at you.

Bolton is one of the four near-identical horrible Lancashire towns beginning with "B" within about 20 miles of each other - Bolton, Blackburn, Bury and Burnley. They all suck, in particular they all have racial ghettoes and the occasional race riot, and near-bankrupt football teams that used to be good decades ago (apart from Bury, who actually went bankrupt and out of existence a few years ago).
