I've pretty much conceded Chantal's family has divorced themselves from her - including her aunt in Jamaica, who she apparently was so close with and yet hasn't reached out to her to ask what the fuck she's doing. But it's interesting how Peetz continues to enable her destructive lifestyle, and in many ways, openly cheers it on.
Maybe Peetz truly doesn't care for her and is using her channel for his own person worth, while tolerating Chantal and the only human engagement he gets. Regardless, the fact he's so oblivious to her continued decline is something else, especially since he's seeing it up close.
Granted, he's a pussy who likely will avoid any level of conflict with Chantal. But if he truly did care about her, even just as a friend, he'd step in...or at least not join in and continue to enable this behavior.
I mean, we only get a few hours, at the most, of Chantal. He gets full days. And the complete deterioration of her mental state is as obvious as she would be trying to tip-toe through a library. How he can just ignore that is wild.
I get it. Peetz is a fucking cuck...but holy fuck.
I'm thinking he's really trapped right now. Not only is he afraid of the beast screaming at him (one can only imagine what an awful shrew she is when she is pissed off in private with a guy who won't push back), but he seriously may be in financial straits as well.
If she is to be believed (which is a fool's errand, but humor me), she's paying more than her fair share of the rent, and she frequently buys his food. She might even cover the utilities; certainly she pays for her own gas and insurance (I am assuming she has insurance if it is mandatory; if it isn't, she probably doesn't), and he benefits from her car.
Compounding this, she also seems to help herself to his credit card, and he is probably hoping (in Vain) for repayment at some point.
This is a guy with a $200 per week comic book habit, but who only earns about $600-$700 a week before taxes, which probably take about a third. That leaves him with just enough to cover 3 or 4 of Chantal's take-out orders in a week (she usually has well over a dozen)
I suspect he's barely solvent, and likely can't afford to move or lose a roommate. So why rock the boat? So, he stays, and mutters his weak, passive-aggressive jabs at her without really confronting her, and life staggers on.
Even if he did have a minimal amount of money with which to move, he is not proactive enough to actually go to the trouble of checking listings, traveling to see apartments, getting utilities and such. From what I can tell, he has lived with his mom, rented a room in a house where someone else took care of keeping the lights turned on, and lived with Clotso twice, at Clotso's insistence. He has never really moved in any "adult" sense on his own. He has never really had any kind of adult responsibility in his entire life, and probably never will.
He will be the one to find the body, most likely. I don't see either of them changing their living arrangements or dynamic (unless she goes back on Tinder and finds another meth head to move in with; still a possibility and Peetz is screwed if she does)
Sucks to be Peetz, but he richly deserves it all. Sucks even worse to be Clotso, but at least she doesn't have to worry about Peetz making any waves. He'll let her die in peace, while muttering impotent jabs.
