Come to think of it, I would actually love to see more eldritch mermaids instead of the usual pure human top and the fish half with the knee-bend. The later is an actual pet-peeve of mine. I mean, sure, mermaids are fictional creatures and can look however, but damn, make them less human and more monster and give them fish bones in their stupid fish tails.

Most of it appears to be about social perception and Tribble teetering on the verge of getting herself canceled.

A near 3 hour long rant about the series so far pointing out everything wrong. Only watch if you care...its a long watch.
If you do I have to warn you, the video creator is one of them thar butch lesbian types, and she is astringently against/dislikes men/male characters and doesn't care about their troubles and trials in comparison to the female characters. I find it hypocritical although she is right about most everything else presented in the video.
I find it funny how often lgbt representation falls off the rails. Or it turns out the writers, who are lgbt themselves, are utterly insane. In this case I don't believe Tribble is insane but it is like a Vivzie Pop scenario. A person panders to a certain set of people but she isn't as in lock-step as her patrons, creating a faction that loudly hates her and are ready to rip her off her pedestal the moment she slips.

There are also videos talking about issues of ableism in the series that are much shorter. But they all seem to be made by little kids. I don't feel truly comfortable posting videos made by kids here.

I remember this series. I dipped into one of the episodes to see if it was worth watching and a lot of people in the comments were not happy whenever one person tried to rationalise why one of the male lions in the series acted the way he did (for context he and the main character are basically in an arranged marriage they were groomed into as cubs, the mc runs off to be with her lesbian lover which results in the lover getting killed and the male lion forbids homosexuality in prides from that moment on). It was basically "You're wrong he's an evil cishet lion because he's a homophobe and if you don't agree then stop watching the series uwu!".

And even then, why would they have stretch marks?
The fat required by salmon, seals and cold water mermaids if they existed isn't the same kind of fat as the one on a chubby, fat, or obese human. Cold mermaids would be born with the fat, thus they wouldn't have stretch marks since stretch marks are a result of "thin skin" cracking when putting on weight.
