I expected they would have to go above the knee due to needing healthyish tissue for the flap. As other farmers predicted, this is likely the “bad news” she got right before surgery. This will make things much, much more challenging for her. I wonder if she’s actually thrilled about that. People keep mentioning “maybe this will wake her up!” but there’s not enough rainbows on the site for that. She’s so far gone. If rubbing glass into her genitals and cutting nerves from her legs didn’t wake her up, nothing will. It’s sad because she’s so mentally ill, but infuriating that she’s harming her family with her attention seeking and self destruction. Just a shitty situation all around.

Count me in among the dozens of others who are recently new to this thread. I’ve seen some horrific pictures/videos but I had never imagined such people as this exist in the world. Naive. It had just never occurred to me that there would be someone who would intentionally dig holes in their legs to the point of amputation. It’s pitiful that someone’s mind could be so beyond repair.

Theres a video where she's prodding a pulsating open wound (post skin graft?) but I missed the noodle nerve pic, how is that possible? did the nerve rot? or was it severed by the swelling? And was it the pressure from the swelling that made it burst forth when she was picking the rot? She said it broke like a guitar string, but they recoil when broke, I picture it like one of those joke cans where worms spring out when you open it.

To those wondering what happened to Kelly's social media: nothing.

Kelly's sister Gina had washed her hands of Kelly's endless needy BPD behavior, and has only showed support now because her sister was and still is on her deathbed with sepsis. Kelly has begged her sister to please, PLEASE update her followers as they will all be so worried, and Gina is humoring her for no because Kelly is still nowhere out of the woods and she doesn't want to have hr sister die when they're on bad terms.

This was the perfect bait to force her sister to defend her online again, and Kelly is absolutely gleeful. Hospitalized! All the doctors! Special attention! Family attention! Best friend is forced caregiver! Wheeeee!

Gina will wash her hands of Kelly in another week or two when she realizes nothing has changed and her sister is still a giant needy asshole. She always does.

I think I have a (more) complete rationale for the unusual IV. Her care team picked up that she was reversing the flow on her IVs, bleeding them out. The head was picked over the (better perfusing) chest because the position you would have to take to get it to start reversing is basically a headstand, or something equally obvious and blatant, not to mention uncomfortable. Since the head is above the heart, basically by default, and they are going to keep her in a lay-z-boy posture (forget the medical term for that, hahaha), it’s basically always getting to have gravity in its favor regardless of what shenanigans she tries to pull. I mean, I hope someone got a cool IV story out of this at least. “I got to do a scalp IV on an adult once!”

If she is on 1:1 observation (which she really should be) then "bleeding out" her IV's isn't really an option, so it would be weird for staff to factor that into their decision of where to place the IV.

Scalp IV's are risky. They are easily dislodged, and if IV fluid leaks into the tissues of the face/scalp it could spell disaster (especially if she's receiving certain vesicant medications). There are better options.

Going back to the "bleeding out the IV" point, it's really difficult for a patient to do this in the hospital, even if they're not on 1:1 obs. They would need syringes (who's gonna give that to her?), the IV needs to be of a certain size in a certain location... plus she's already hooked up to continuous IV fluids so she can't exactly fuck with the IV without staff noticing immediately (i.e. the big puddle of IV fluid in the bed)

Also hasn't Kelly moved on from bloodletting? That's so 2017.

Actually, please, sperg further, IVs aren’t my domain, so I’ll differ to anyone with more experience. Scalp seems like a really weird choice, and I was spitballing reasons why the docs would settle on it. What do you think the reason they did such a rare IV is? Can’t just be because of poor perfusion, it seems unlikely that they would go for the scalp when there are still other veins that might be easier if circulation is the issue.

I'm sure the IV thing is a lot more simple. She's been in hospital many many times, has had countless IV infusions over the years and her veins are probably shit now. Most of the time when it comes to IVs, the first options are hands or the crease of your elbow. If they can't find anything there they will go for your feet (you see this in drug addicts too, they can't get veins in their arms to come up any more so they start using their feet).

Obviously, Kelly now has no feet. They could have put in a central line of some kind into her chest, but if they were wary of her purposefully causing infections before + the fact she's septic already, maybe they decided let's just do head IV and have done with it.

I may be over-optimistic but I truly think that this experience will frighten her out of the grosser mutilation: she is probably realising that even though she has had until now the most extraordinary luck escaping from the consequences of her behaviour, that it is now catching up to her, and that these consequences are not as pleasant as anticipated. She'll know that she can't go any further from here, it's not like 3 limbs missing evokes any more sympathy or attention than 2. So she's going to get pretty boring from here, IMO. I am also going to make a guess that there is a 50% chance of a suicide in 6 - 9 months, unfortunately.

I wonder if she has scarred and stenosed veins from her years of previous antibiotics, but they're still trying to chippy along with peripheral access until she has negative cultures and it's safer to place a PICC or a tunneled cath.

Or maybe they're thinking that with the legs no longer dragging her down, it'll be a quick enough transition to orals. Just guesses, of course. This whole thing is amazing.

Moralfag rant here. It's more than a bit annoying that if she does get prosthetics she's going to have a hell of a time trying to get used to it (especially as the amputations are above the knee), and that if she doesn't, she's certainly going to be wheelchair-bound. It's not annoying because it's "painful" for her, it's the fact that it's an obnoxious amount of time and money going into this fucktard begging for attention could be used for literally life-saving procedures for other people who didn't ask to be in that situation at all. Not to mention that someone is going to have to drag her ass everywhere, and help her bathe or use the toilet (dunno how that works for amputees like her). Her being O- and having fucking gallons of blood transfused over the years is just the icing on the cake. What a drain on society.
