Biggest bullshit in a video game

I'll do you one better from the same game: Munchlax

-Can only be found on honey trees of which there are 21 in the game but only 4 of these honey trees actually allow you to encounter Munchlax.

-These 4 honey trees are randomized each playthrough and there is no in-game way of knowing which trees house a Munchlax besides sheer trial and error although these days there are 3rd party programs that can find them for you.

=Even if you manage to slather honey on the right tree you have to wait 6 to 24 real time hours for the tree to start shaking which lets you know a Pokemon can be encountered

-If that wasn't bad enough, Munchlax only has a 1% encounter rate and the Pokemon you get is completely locked in once the tree starts shaking so you can't save scum your way to getting one.

Rinse and repeat this and maybe you'll get a Munchlax after about a month or so, I have no idea why Munchlax in particular was made this much of a pain in the ass to obtain.
It's similar to Feebas in RSE at least, only findable on specific tiles in a route that are random
At least with Munchlax you can trade a Snorlax in from FRLG or HGSS and send it to the day care with a lax incense to breed it

At the very least Feebas has a relatively high encounter rate and you aren't at the mercy of time to actually find one, but yeah Feebas is also a pain in the ass.

When a JRPG forces you to use a character you've been completely neglecting and doesn't scale the difficulty to where it's feasible.
That part in FF9 where you're playing Steiner and Beatrix comes to mind. To make things worse the game doesn't allow you to access the menu the entire time. It's tradition I get at least one Game Over there. Also Beatrix went from an unstoppable tank to a frail little flower but that's normal for former antagonists joining the party.

Feebas becomes a gigantic pain in the ass if you don't know how the 1/8 tile is chosen. IIRC, there's several checks to determine it, but the most annoying is the fucking catchphrase in one of the cities that can be changed just from trading/battling with friends.

Honestly Beatrix can Solo that part anyways so.

For the record, that's:
-2 enemy tanks spotted
-8 critical hits
-33 penetrating hits
-8 enemy tanks killed (over half the enemy's team)
-Top Gun
-Radley-Walters medal
-NO PREMIUM and NO GOLD AMMO
And I STILL was on the losing team.
Still fucking mad about being teamed up with a shortbus full of fucking speds.

Rome Remastered is fucking great (though the AI is still dumb as rocks during sieges and will march units aimlessly up and down while you pelt them with missiles), but the new UI has ... issues.

The Load Game and Save Game functions are on the same screen. You click on the file, then click on one of two identical-looking buttons to either save or load. Worse, if you double click on a file on the list, it automatically LOADS that file rather than saving it like in any other game. All you get is an "are you sure you want to load this game?" warning, which looks exactly like "are you sure you want to save this game?" unless you are paying REALLY close attention.

It's late. You're tired. You just won a brutal victory against the AI, beating impossible odds. Your general even got one of the rarer camp followers as a reward as well as an extra command star. Time to save and go to bed. You pull up the load/save menu. You double click on the file for this campaign and click "yes" to the save overwrite prompt.

Except you didn't save. You loaded your file from 3 hours ago. The game autosaves at the beginning of every turn, not after every battle. That's assuming you had it enabled of course.

Do the battle again, bitch. In fact do the entire turn again, bitch. What's that? You did five battles this turn and a bunch of other stuff because you were leaving the really hard battle till last? Do them all again. Fuck you.

To anyone wanting to play this game (and you should, it's fucking great) - quicksave after every battle, until it becomes instinct. You'll thank me later.

Found some old gaming magazines and paged through finding a letter where someone complained in Assassin's Creed 2 you could only get 97% completion unless you paid $11 for DLC to get the last 3%. I know other games chopped off story content for DLC, Azura's Wrath being a popular example, but leave it to Ubisoft to do so in the most blatant way possible.

I'm sure there are other examples especially around this time when companies were testing the waters on what people would put up with but was just surprised I never knew this.

Yeah, until her tiny MP pool is empty or she takes more than 3 hits.
Dude it is 5 Fights, most of which the enemy shouldn't get an attack off because Beatrix will knock off 90% off and Stiner can poke them to finish them off.

The only way you should have issues with that sequence is if you are a complete Retard and have blow all of her MP casting Climbhazzard on the first fight.

Oh god,if thats the one I think it is. All you do is kick a guy while flying around on leonardo's flying machine. Thats it. And I think you really have to go out of your way to miss it. Way to ruin a fun feature (achievements) just to get more filthy lucre. Modern gaming has turn into such a joke.
