The Elder Scrolls

Arena anyone? The Khajiit don't even look like Cat-people. It's comical. Just look at my current avatar. That's a Khajiit. Aperently Khajiit are diverse and the arena ones are the "Ohlmes" type or something.
It depends on the moons positions.
If my understanding is correct, the phases of the moons drastically effect how they look. Supposedly they can be born as non-humanoid big cats, too.

I do like how they treat orcs as an ethnic group. I'm not really into the whole "always lawful evil" types I see in some games.
They along with Blizzard (and any other game dev such as Piranha Bytes of Gothic fame) did try to avert that. While Arena did have orcs as a sort of generic enemy, Daggerfall did play with that by bringing in Gortwog and Orsinium, so much that one could end up giving Gortwog the totem and create an independent kingdom for the orcs, all while the Empire is crippled by Numidium. There is also a character biography for players that could have them end up being taken prisoner by a tribe of orcs that isn't too hostile to the player (though it wouldn't excuse the player character from making an eventual escape).

*Edit: found the orc tribe bio for Daggerfall players. It's the third post.

They can. Certain phases of the moon does affect their appearances from looking like Bosmer that could have a cat tail to even being either a big cat that functions as a battle steed or a house cat that has an affinity for magic (if I recall that correctly).

I forgot this game took place in Tamriel until I saw a glimpse of the golden tower in the background.
also I can't tell if that lich lord is an Altmer or Ayleid.

I know I'm months late but I just now noticed this post.
That's Mannimarco, they decided to take a middle road between the spoopy death lord from Daggerfall and the generic high elf one from Oblivion and made him a generic high elf in spoopy armor.
I REALLY hated the voices and character design in Oblivion. I loved the gameplay and the setting but I just can't stand how all the characters look like puffy-faced cherubs with massive noses that all sound like your middle aged neighbors. Its a pretty minor thing to complain about yeah, but I just can't take any of the characters seriously looking like that.
Yeah the faces are pretty common complaint actually, pretty much no one unironically likes them. You can grab a fix for that here

Don't a bunch of the characters in Skyrim share the same voice actors too? I've heard Farkas' voice come from at least three other NPCs.

I also find it pretty funny how all of the children have the exact same face, both boys and girls.
Well yeah reusing voices is pretty understandable when you have a game as big as any ES game. My main complaint with oblivion was just that the voices sounded so generic and bland. I like the voices in skyrim because they all seem really fitting for each character, and they actually went out of their way to give each character accents based on their race.

I wasn't complaining per say, it's just really noticeable. The voices themselves are fine.

They did recycle the same voices but they did at least put in a bit of variation. Better than Oblivion where every Nord and Khajiit sounded the same. Only game in the series that may as well averted it was Battlespire (at least based off what I seen). Not counting the scamps or spider daedra that have the same sprites, the NPC's in that had different voices, even Mehrunes Dagon.

What voices for Nords do you prefer?
the hammy Nords from Morrowind and Oblivion or the Scandinavian Schwarzenegger voices from Skyrim?

Yeah, they save space on the disc by using a common voice banks. That's always kind of been the problem with fully voiced characters in RPGS, you want everyone to be able to speak but you only have enough room for them to say so much. Skyrim was actually kind of neat in how they handled the voiced imo, voices were tied to gender and personality type rather than race like how it was done in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Yeah, that's because the child race uses just slightly improved Oblivion/Fallout head meshes. The child race is actually missing a lot of data which causes a lot of minor issues with them, like their clothes showing up as darker than they should in games without Hearthfire and their faces having almost flat shading.

Skyrim's Voice-MaleGuard for men, Morrowind's Nord-Female for women.

Worse than that. Two of the children, one of them being Braith, in Skyrim are suppose to be Redguards.

Yeah, I know the whole disc space thing when it comes to creating NPCs in larger games. Seen it before with Mass Effect and Final Fantasy XIII, especially in regard to reusing character models. It kinda takes the immersion away, but they did the best with what they had, I guess.

Why the heck would anyone play ESO when you could be playing TERA?

much better combat, graphics and more pedo forks then you can shake a stick at.

it's probably late to say. but I gave TERA another try.
it's not that bad as the first time I tried it. still has stuff I need to get used to like having no wizard hats. apart from that it's pretty fun

I know it's not uncommon for NPCs to die in Skyrim, but yesterday Alvor was killed by a Blood Dragon in my game and it made me feel really bad, especially since his wife and daughter gave me the "I'm grieving go away" dialogue afterwards. I sent his body down the river because it felt right.

If Sigrid happens to die next, I'm reloading one of my saves.

Oh man. The number of NPCs that died during attacks in my previous games. While it's not really a big deal, yeah, it feels bad when they die. That's why I finally installed the When Vampires Attack mod because in one of my previous games both Adrianne and Ulfberth died during one of those attacks and it's just hlkjghljgkj. Okay, I get that you're a Nord with balls of steel but c'mon. There's also one instance when I'm about to do a burglary job on Viola's house when vampires suddenly attacked and Viola died. In all my previous gameplays, for some reason, Uthgerd the Unbroken always die. Why does she always die? I never had her as a follower.
