I think almos evryone sides with the legion since Ulfric is kind of a douchebag. Most people sign up for the stormcloaks because they've already tried the legions questline and wanna try something new.
Yeah, Maven is the only con I'd find in fighting for Imperials. Sure one can say the con that the Legion has is working for an empire that banned Talos worship but outside of that, I couldn't care less. I pretty much pick Legion due to Balgruuf. Had Bethesda done something different like convince Balgruuf, I might of chosen to fight for Ulfric but in the end, my Morrowind days kinda made me chose to picking the Legion (along with killing the Dark Brotherhood).I can sort of understand the Stormcloaks side but I think their story could have been executed a little better.
Either way, whoever wins, I'm disappointed nothing could be done with Maven. Fuck Maven.
There is a book in Skyrim I like called the Talos mistake. Its a piece of Thalmor propaganda that says that worshiping Tiber Septim as a god is wrong because it overshadows what he did as a man. The book tries to placate the Thalmor but I think in a way it has the opposite effect of saying that man is capable of tremendous almost divine deeds something the Mer over Men Thalmor might not appreciate.Yeah, Maven is the only con I'd find in fighting for Imperials. As for Talos, I honestly wonder whats so great about Talos. Just because Tiber Septim became a god and got rid of Cyrodiil's jungle doesn't make him as special as Vivec. Only special thing I know of with Talos was becoming the last divine that had a special piece of equipment for the Knight of the Nine quest which could lead to destroying Umaril.
Oh dear god, Maven.I can sort of understand the Stormcloaks side but I think their story could have been executed a little better.

Yeah, the fuck you I'm Dovahkiin thing is one reason one would want to be High King. So what if Maven has "connections", that means jack when you are guildmaster of thieves and assassins respectively along with killing what may as well be the Nord version of Satan. Add to that her son/husband (I dont know what Bethesda intended the guy to be) on the list as well, thinks you're some lowly adventure who falls to his skill with the sword. That means jack as well when you can throw a shout that disarms him while you cut him down.Oh dear god, Maven.
She still acts like she runs things even if you're controlling the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood and you've single-handedly got them back on their feet, negating their (mostly the Guild's) need for her support.
I kinda wish (mods not withstanding) that you could've become High King. Because fuck you, I'm Dovahkiin.
Skyrim's inhabitants (mostly the Nords) run on the belief that a prospective leader needs to be a person who gets shit done, and you're a walking one-man army. Nobody would fuck with High King Dovahkiin.Yeah, the fuck you I'm Dovahkiin thing is one reason one would want to be High King. Besides, one would wish outside of mods you'd tell the Blades to let Paarthurnax go. Sure the dragon says its wise not to trust him but considering he stayed out of mortal affairs for so long and even led a revolt against Alduin because Kynareth asked him, one could give the dragon benefit of doubt. Besides, Delphine can claim to be the last blade and all but the fact that all she did was get Esbern and told you to find a shout that only forces a dragon to land is nothing compared to again slaying the Nord version of Satan that is Alduin. All this said, honestly do wish Bethesda also allowed one to dismantle the Thieves Guild. Not really a fan of Brynjolf trying to approach me (not really keen on framing an elf and being a guy who extorts money as one of my thief assignments.)
Considering the blades, @Oglooger or @exball posted an image that came from /v/, theorizing that Delphine and Esbern are more of wannabe dragon slayers who came across some Blades archives or something. In all seriousness, them barking orders is not only stupid, it would make some players want to kill them considering how you have some not wanting to kill Paarthurnax.Skyrim's inhabitants (mostly the Nords) run on the belief that a prospective leader needs to be a person who gets shit done, and you're a walking one-man army. I never really liked that about the Blades. They're all "we serve the Dragonborn" but then have the gall to bark orders at you. Honestly? I side with Paarthurnax every time, not just because of that though. They sound good at first, but to me they ultimately come off as just wanting to kill dragons for the sake of being relevant again, regardless of whether or not the dragon is good or bad. Doesn't help that technically you're a dragon in humanoid form.
I'm not keen of that one either. And you can never bust him out. Your only real option is to fail it intentionally, but you still get in either way.
Considering Civil War quest, it would really be nice if there was something done about the straggler camps. I mean, without the unofficial patch, it would be nice to do something with the leaders of those camps. Hell, they could of at least made some sort of quest-line or whatever involving some pissed off Legion or Stormcloaks wanting your head on a pike because Skyrim seceded or Talos can't be worshiped openly. Considering the fate of everything, iirc, Kirkbride says the Thalmor sort of succeeded except not in they way they wanted. To try and sum it up, humans are no where to be seen, Numidium comes back and fucks up everything, wipes Thalmor out of existence and ends up forcing the Dunmer and some Khajiit to settle on the moon. It's as crazy as it sounds. After reading the last couple of posts I'm reminded how Skyrim is and forever will be unfinished because Bethesda just wanted the moneys...That unfinished Skyrim Civil War, the wife-less Ork, and the way the plot set up was to allow various pivotal turning points regarding Daedra worship, various guilds, werewolves, and the fate of the Empire, Elves, and Skyrim, but were never really expanded on due to the rush that was put on the game's development. So most of the quests were cut, left unfinished or replaced with repeating quests.
I think that was established as a different kind of "dragonborn" granted by Akatosh (?) to Alessia. They're not the same kind of dragonborn as the player character. What really gets me about the plot of Skyrim is how the dragonborn is just some random asshole that hopped the border and got caught. I mean I'm definately no authority on TES lore, but wasn't it established that the dragonborn is typically the emperor of Cyrodiil or at least related to the royal family in some way?
Man these games are complicatedI think that was established as a different kind of "dragonborn" granted by Akatosh (?) to Alessia. They're not the same kind of dragonborn as the player character.
Lore itself is even more complicated. Consider reading the works Kirkbride made for the games such as the 36 Lessons of Vivec or even C0DA (Kirkbrides attempt at answering canon and non-canon. To tl;dr, it's canon to you which means in your own TES universe, the dragonborn was some creepy looking loli vampiress made by a lonely neckbeard). Another example can be The Warp in the West, Bethesda's attempt at making all Daggerfall endings canon save for the one where Numidium goes berserk and attacks Tamriel before getting destroyed by the empire.Man these games are complicated
