Southern Democrats were strongly against immigration but the Blue Dog core was hollowed out over the last decade. Northern Dems spearheaded the Immigration Act of 1965 and the rest of the party has fallen in line with them as the decades passed.

It's all part of the balancing game the DNC has to play to keep their voting base consolidated. If they give too much to one group they risk offbalancing the rest, and they never actually come through on all the things they promise - which of course allows them to blame it all on the evil Republicans and use it as a campaign issue again.
Plus, I think they are discovering that the hispanic voting bloc isn't quite as solid as they probably thought in a post trump world. They assumed that every single hispanic person hated trump enough that they would be willing to vote blue no matter who. But the 2020 chimpouts brought an unexpected consequence and a lot of middle ground hispanics started leaning right, because that type of social unrest is the type of thing a lot of them fled. Then you have groups like the cubans who hate communism so much that Red Scare McCarthy himself would find them a bit extreme. So promising open borders seemed like a great way to get in the door but now they're not as committed to it because they want a solid, reliable voting bloc, not a bunch of people with the absolute gall to think for themselves.
Blacks, though? Most of them will vote democrat no matter what, because decades of propaganda and gibs have worked. It doesn't matter that the worst experiences shared by black people in modern america are concentrated in urban cities ran by Democrats, it doesn't matter to them that they know they're being pandered to - the Dems come with free stuff and tell them what they want to hear, so they blindly vote blue. The only ones that tend otherwise are the evangelical blacks who are strong enough in their convictions against gay marriage and abortion, and the working class blue collar blacks who have actually had to work for everything they have and also dislike high crime rates and subsidized thuggery.
