Medical maggots are seriously amazing. Tiny little critters that will only eat bad tissue and bad tissue alone. No surgeon can ever be as skilled and accurate as those little critters. Seriously. First time you remove a bandage on a nastily deep and "impossible" wound and shake them out to see the healthy pink tissue they leave behind, you love them. Their activity in the wound even stimulate healing!

I can't tell if she's happy about the amputation or if it's the drugs elevating her mood. She's on Fent but seems energetic and chipper so that's weird.

She could just be the type that gets high as opposed to stoned on opiates.

I've never seen one either, but apparently it is easily bought online. Margaret Palermo (Venus Angelic's mother) had pet leeches, allegedly of the same species.

The leeches got a big revival back in early 00s because of their saliva's anti-coagulation properties.

I don't really have a substantial contribution to the conversation here but this is one of the most truly horrifying things I've seen since I've been on this site.
I don't think she's a bad person, just extremely fucked up. She was failed by a lot of people. It's just sad.

I don’t think she really wanted to lose her legs. Sure, she didn’t walk much, but even the ability to stand for five minutes is extremely valuable. She mentioned she’s have difficulty brushing her teeth, likely because it’s difficult to maintain a seated position. If she still has lower legs, even horribly disfigured ones, this would be very easy.

Maybe she can learn to use prosthetics, despite the lack of a knee. Would be very helpful, but who knows.

She'll get home and go to bed after spending months in hospital, only to wake up the next day and realize she can't get out of bed without some kind of help.
She won't be able to walk to the bathroom without help, she won't be able to make meals without help, she won't be able to fucking stand without prosthetics. "I can still work with this!" Lmao bitch you lost your damn knees, those are kind of important when you're talking about prosthetics.

She'll realize how crippled she truly is when she gets back into the real world, where there's no one to wait on you, there's no fixed schedule or strict routine like a hospital typcially has. And she'll either slide right back into her old ways or fall into miserable depression.

Yes, Kelly is deeply mentally ill. She has also been given so much help. More so than most. But until Kelly wants to drop this delusion (that she's got Behcets), and do the work to get better - she'll never change. She'll never get better. And if having her rotted legs removed hasn't woken her up, then I doubt anything ever will.
