When you are morbidly obese some of the behaviours that would identify atypical anorexia are actively encouraged. Again when you are that size you need to relearn how to eat, and yes for big old fatties used to binging most of their life it may mean a lifetime of obsessing over calories, portions and avoiding binge foods. Symptoms of atypical anorexia? Yes. Symptoms of a good weight loss plan for the super obese if the world? Also yes.
HAES has people thinking restriction is the devil, the way they meltdown about any sort of restriction to their diet is it a wonder megafats are able to convince sympathetic therapists that they are most definitely anorexic.
Perhaps behind the scenes Tess has been showing the sort of behaviour I would expect in someone who is morbidly obese and genuinely atypical anorexic (or, you know, EDNOS as it would have been known pre 2013), but I don't really care. She is still an awful human being.
