One of the more obnoxious lockdown things (that did not happen here) was keeping the big box stores open so you got exposed to as many people concentrated into one space as possible, while fucking over small stores. Since social distancing apparently doesn't do shit, all this really did was reward the big boxes while fucking over small businesses. That MIT study in the news story says 6 feet or 60 feet doesn't matter.

Yes it pissed me off too. People were eating unmasked in our Target all year long in their little courtyard but god forbid a fucking mom and pop store wanted more than one person in their lobby or a bar wanted 50% capacity. The CDC in both Trump and Biden's admins has been a complete joke. That they still haven't emphasized YOU DON'T GET COVID OUTSIDE GET OUTSIDE is a disgrace and they should be ashamed.

Let's entertain the antivax tards. Even if the twink died from vaxx, which is very unlikely, that is an acceptable cost for the benefit of saving tens of thousands of lives from widespread vaccination. It's the hostage train situation: you do nothing and kill 5, pull the lever and kill 1. You can argue that one requires intent and the other is just nature, but why get all philosophical? It's math. We should make it a goal to preserve as many lives as possible.

And that's the fundamental problem. Not "muh vaccines gonna rewrite my DNA and turn me into a frankenstein monster television!!!" It's that literal fucking retards are in charge and all of their boilerplate one-size-fits-all universalized solutions are fucking retarded. Top-down direction is a bad model for basically anything, and particularly bad for managing people's lives. Each store should have been free to determine for themselves what the best methods to keep themselves and their customers safe were. Decisionmaking is always best when it is closest to the ground.

People die from tested vaccines like Gardasil and MMR. It's rare, and tragic, but it happens. Are you saying we should halt use of those?

Also there is no mandatory vaccination anywhere in this country. Anyone who takes the vaccine is willingly accepting the risk onto themselves, including death.

The gov needs to stop putting HFCS and corn feed in all the food. Stop selling Coca Cola in school cafeterias, stop putting estrogen in all the furniture (legit lol), stop putting fluoride in the water, etc, etc.

When they do that, I will trust that they are actually concerned about my health and are not a vehicle for lobyists to profit from and make money with.
