Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I live in Ontario and I fucking knew this shit wasn't safe. I knew it, and nobody would listen to me. I told people that AZ had been banned in like, 20 European countries, and they went "well, Trudeau says it's safe though." There was a piece of propagan- sorry, an article in the newspaper last week about a hesitant woman getting jab, specifically, the AZ, and I thought it was fishy, and felt like I was being Project Mockingbird'd. Looks like she was right to be hesitant, assuming she's even real, and fuck the media, Trudeau, and Doug Ford. I hope people will start realizing that our politicians are filthy liars, and will push back

The point is we should be heavily sanctioning China for this accidental release (if it was intentional we should be at war). The entire world should be coming together to fuck china over with exclusion from all markets unless they agree to end all viral research yesterday. And then we should be getting fucking reparations on top.

If our politics weren't being run by corrupt fucks who care about staying in power way more than doing what's best for the country on the world stage we wouldn't be having this conversation. Instead blue team and 90% of red team were busy colluding on how to dump the drumpf or some petty shit.

And no Trump wasn't any better than Xiden. He could have started this conversation a fucking year ago. Don't tell me our trillion dollar intelligence agencies didn't know all this on day 1. Just because I hate the fucking demonrats and rinos more than Trump doesn't make me worship that reality show moron.

Good lord people, prior to Covid the Lab in Wuhan was no secret - and no secret that a Texas company in the USA primarily designed it. Or a secret that they gathered bat viruses.

Stop acting like this was cloak and dagger hush hush.

So what if it leaked out of a Lab? Is that really that big of a deal given how many times this happens with viruses - or hospitals?

Leaked from a lab versus deliberately released are two very different things. And you've got no evidence for either, not that it even matters one bit if you did.
I'm surprised you doomers aren't more into the lab leak/bioweapon theory, considering it would at least give a layer to the biological impossibilities yall assume this virus has.

I overall agree, but starting war with China over this virus is a really dumb idea.
Its typically not the old and fat who die in a war, just saying... *sigh*

I don't attribute to malice what could be attributed to stupidity. There's good reason to do research on viral gain of function. There's also great reason why it isn't done in America. Anyone who knows anything about Chinese standards knows they also are extremely careless, corrupt, and unhealthy. Take proven viral gain of function research at an institute in Wuhan and add in Chinese standards and the eventual logical output is cases of a weird bat flu showing up a mile away from a virology institute in Wuhan without any evidence of its lineage.

The breathless denial by Fauxi and the MSM is so obviously dissonant with what everybody can conclude with basic logic that it just makes me think there were hands dirtied that should have been clean.

If a pandemic started a mile away from the CDC in Atlanta, which was studying how to make the virus involved in that pandemic more infectious, would you say it's crazy to think a lab leak hypothesis is plausible? Of course not. But it's China, so for some reason that's verboten.

I'm speaking more to the people who think COVID is some deadly new complex "unknown" virus quote "unlike anything we've dealt with before".

Like to them COVID is simultaneously this super-deadly long-term disease that fucking breaks the rules of what a Coronaviridae is capable of, but also: lol dude its just a typical respiratory virus nothing out of the norm definitely couldn't have come from a lab

Anyone else seeing restaurants losing tons of people? Didn't start happening until the past month, but it seems like every food place in my county's understaffed to hell. It's weird that this didn't happen after the other stimulus checks, at least not in my area.

I mean, covid could be a leaked virus that was made worse in a lab but which is still only a bad and somewhat more infectious coronavirus that only really kills fatties, diabetos, and boomers. The whole "covid is a bioweapon unleashed to kill Americans!" thing died out probably a 8 months to a year ago, though there are still people who take the stance that it isn't meant to be deadly to people's health, but to be deadly to the smooth-functioning of the country. And given how aligned covid was with the election, which otherwise nearly certainly would have gone for Trump, that is understandable, if probably nonsense.

I saw a scientist who said the CDC has “institutionalized hypochondria.”
I like that :winner: . As I believe I've mentioned in past discussion, people from other nations are surprised at how powerful the drug lobbies are in the US in that people here believe pills and drugs will always cure what ails them and that legitimate natural remedies are seldom considered. The CDC seems to be doing its part to perpetuate that misconception.

They never should’ve passed any “relief bills” at a federal level, the reason people are acting the way they are is because all the losers out there who couldn’t make 40k a year in a job were making 900 a week with no payroll taxes to sit on their ass and play video games all day.
Biden may say that people aren't staying home because they're earning more on unemployment than they would working, but empirical evidence suggests otherwise. More on that later.

I live in a place where muzzles are no longer required, but companies still have their own muzzle mandates. One notable exception: a privately-owned store with a sign "MASKS NOT REQUIRED". At least there are others who are sick and tired of this crazy bullshit.
For a number of reasons, I keep the required notices posted on my office's alcove door (reason #1 being to avoid a potential $7000 fine for noncompliance with state and local COVID requirements) but I really don't care if my established clients wear masks or not. When I ask the required screening questions, nearly all of them tell me they wouldn't be coming to see me at the office if they didn't feel well and I've known most of them long enough to trust them to be reasonable adults.

I wonder what kind of shit show will happen when unemployment for Covid ends for people. There's a big shortage of people not wanting jobs right now. Should I be running to the hills?
I wouldn't be surprised if the Democrats use their majorities in the US House and senate to continue to extend the Federal add-on indefinitely. It's bad enough that Tlaib, AOC, and that lady from Minnesota all believe anyone on US soil should be getting $2000/month in COVID money followed by $1000/month for the next year once the pandemic is deemed over.

To more directly answer your question, I think we'll see a major shitstorm when Federal benefits end and states decide to start enforcing their work search requirements. People won't know how to act and would rather spend the time bouncing and squeaking about losing their COVID tugboats instead of using that same energy and effort to find a job or return to whatever job they had before COVID hit.

Calgary street preacher Artur Pawlowski arrested and charged after defying public health orders
If I recall, this is the guy that fled a communist or Nazi-controlled part of Europe. TFW Canada is treating him more oppressively than the true oppression he faced in his past. *sigh*

Let's hope then other Republican governors will follow DeSantis' example. I doubt that SOB of Michigan Greta Gretchen will do the same.
Whitmer scares me, TBH. Although she's been resigned to not add new mandates for now and recently announced vaccine-based metrics for easing up the remaining restrictions, she's still the type to just abruptly change her mind and reverse course without rhyme, reason, or warning.

Why do they have this obsession with putting all this covid shit on kids?

Around here, the spike in COVID numbers this spring was blamed on the 16 and under crowd because: (1) they were ineligible for vaccines at the time and more susceptible to COVD and (2) winter sports, especially those played by the 13 and under group, were being used as a scapegoat. While it's true many kids hated wearing masks for winter sports and some refused to wear masks properly if they could get away with it, I personally think it was nothing more than needing someone to blame for the latest increase in numbers.

With many restaurant positions paying most workers minimum wage or just slightly more than that, they're having a heck of a time (re)hiring workers that can make much more than that staying home and collecting unemployment as long as the Federal government continues to pay $300/week in NEETbux. I did the math and someone in my state collecting maximum weekly unemployment and getting the $300 Federal amount on top of that earns approximately $16.50/hour to stay home and do absolutely nothing. Restaurants and many other businesses simply can't compete with the Federal Government actively undercutting their labor supply in that manner.

More news from my bullshit province. Doctors are being threatened with investigation and penalties if they contradict the bullshit official guidance on vaccines and masking. So if you're a doctor in this shithole province and you advise a healthy young person they probably don't need the vaccine, or if you contradict the Branch Covidian worship of masks, masks during sex, physical barriers between sexual partners, and other retarded shit, you could face penalties up to being banned from practicing medicine in the province. Fucking unreal. Now my doctor could be penalized just for saying I probably have nothing to fear from Covid. Fucking bullshit just keeps getting more and more insane.

No word on doctors being penalized for advocating pseudoscientific hormone therapy for children or genital mutilation for psychotic MtF troons, though.

VANCOUVER -- Doctors in British Columbia are being warned they could face investigation or penalties from their regulatory body if they contradict public health orders or guidance about COVID-19.

The warning is contained in a joint statement from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. and the First Nations Health Authority.

The statement says the college and authority have become aware that some B.C. physicians oppose vaccines and are spreading “misinformation” about mask wearing, physical distancing and lockdowns.

I never thought it was a bioweapon, just that they were messing with a coronavirus, made it more infectious for whatever study they were doing and had an accident. It's just even admitting a scientist could make a mistake was dismissed as racist, since they were chinese scientists.

They just put so much effort into dismissing the possibility, they probably hate to admit it now.

I'm sure athletic mountaineers actually risking their lives are really scared of the coof. Someone make sure to quarantine all the fatties and 80 year olds who are on Everest!
From what I understand the Everest crowd has been random tourists for a while

I was talking with a relation just tonight, and he told me that one of the Subways in town is currently closed because they just can't find enough employees. (For what the anecdote from one southern Michigan city is worth)

You say you dont give a shit now...

Lets say I have an ex marine for a neighbor. He is big into guns. He also was part of the bomb squad in the army during the cold war. So he has an idea how some tick ticks work.

He Isnt down for vaccine because he doesnt trust the people pushing it.

You yank all that shit from him ? Put him in a no win situation?

I guarantee you'll regret saying that.
If the vaccine causes psychopaths to have a joker moment that’s a win win. Rooting out anti vaxxers and the mentally defective in one simple fed’s bullet to his skull.

Working on regaining trust would solve alot of issues but hey you do you...
The vaccine is safe and does its job. There is not trust issue here. Either get it or by the power of private business you will be barred from the rest of society moving forward. Besides, he probably listened to orange man on using bleach to stop it, but now it’s suddenly an issue.

Gotta say, I really think they should start paying people more. Fuck all the leftist angles of it, but I'd say a higher minimum wage would be a good thing. If there's only five people at a McDonald's and the line's constantly two dozen cars long, all day, every day, and you're spending more on gas and food than you can earn from your shifts, I can't blame them for quitting. It looks miserable.
