It's called the Iron Dome, a C-RAM system the israelis have had for around a decade now. It Counters Rockets, Artillery and Mortars, hence C-RAM. To be more specific, it fires and airbursts much more expensive and sophisticated rockets at/near the late soviet era shit Hamas is flinging into Tel Aviv, with enough concussive force to make them prematurely detonate in the air. It does a pretty good job of stopping -most- of the incoming rockets/shells/whatever before they actually hit anything, but with enough volume and some (good or bad depending on your perspective) luck, a few still slip through.

Don't get me wrong the poor people there are fucked hence why they're willing to die for Allah but if you don't think there's Palestinian heads who love the status quo you're just gullible.

The situation in the Arab-Israeli conflict will only change if the status quo isn't beneficial. In the age of nuclear weapons the world has decided it prefers stalemates over horrific wars breaking out.

Im not a Twitter leftie, but I’m a leftie nonetheless and I’m on the side of the Muslims here more than I am with Israel. I have no problem with individual Jews or Muslims until they give me a reason to have and even then it’s usually because they’re a trash person and it has nothing to do with their beliefs. Religious choices are none of anyone’s business until they start dictating laws that affect everyone.

that being said, I don’t feel bad judging the choices of the governments involved in this conflict and I think Israel has been out of bounds and throwing a glorified temper tantrum since the beginning. Jews have the upper hand in general, but especially in that area and they can go wherever and do whatever they want. They’re welcomed with open arms in most of the world and they have the money and resources to get to most of those places. Their culture usually coexists with western society pretty well and even the ones that don’t (Hasidic) just keep to themselves in self contained communities and don’t fuck with anyone. The Hasidic neighborhoods in New York are doing just fine.

Muslims, however, don’t have the same resources and they don’t tend to mesh well with western society when they try to settle in other countries. Just look at some of the issues Europe has had ever since mass immigration began. The average Muslim in the currently contested area is poor as fuck and their government is trash. What other choice do they have but to fight for the land they feel belongs to them and make the best of it once they’ve secured a home? I feel like the Muslims in Palestine genuinely feel like they’re doing the right thing and Israel is just being a dick for the sake of being a dick. It’s not that they want Israel, it’s that they don’t want the Muslims taking it. It’s almost like the political equivalent of flex culture.

As far as US involvement, is anyone surprised? We have our dick in so many holes it shouldn’t be in all over the world that it’s no surprise that this is just another pot to be stirred. Jewish people have a big financial stake in this country between financial institutions and the media (and even more but those are the big two) and the government is going to do what it can to play nice. Jewish money might not always be in the hands of the US government, but as long as it’s adjacent to those hands, the government is content.

I also think that some of our more religious fanatic nut job politicians feel like they’re doing something positive in the eyes of god by being and ally to the chosen people, though I think those people aren’t a majority currently.
