General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

it's been months excluding full EN collabs.
Expect for: impromptu MC collab last week, MonHun w/Ina a few weeks ago, Dynazeon watchalong with Ina a month ago, DBD collab with Anya, a couple MC with Calli, Journey to the Savage Planet with Ame, and that's all before we hit the "3 months ago" mark on her YT page. I think she also did some stuff on Kiara's channel in the meantime.

Gura's great but either she or Cover is almost paralyzed with fear that anything she does differently to what she's been doing will curtail her success.
Does the Bathtub Pizza stream count as being within the bounds of that fear?

Thats completely wrong. All content creators that rely on someone else's IP to make their own content are at the mercy of the owners of the rights. The burden of proof you need to even qualify for the Fair Use defense is incredibly high and monetization is often disqualifying, even if your work counts as transformative.

The mayor difference, more than actual laws or strictness of it, is the culture. Murican, or western, really, companies are often willing to let shit slide and even encourage fan work. If a company doesn't want you making money from their IP, you are pretty fucked.
Cover has a blanket license agreement for making derivative works based on their IP. I don't think he was complaining about fair use, but that he complied with their licensing agreement and they still fucked him.

This has the extra fun of the original work also being a copyright violation, but no one cares about that.

Reactions: Blatant hypocrite
So she's mad that she got a ton of views because of clippers but now that she hasnt done anything worth clipping the people abandoned her? Tough shit. That's how things work.
Not really what happened at all.

A Hololive clipper was DM'ed by a fan asking them to shout her out, and she got flooded with pitysubs that tipped her over the threshold of being allowed to monetise her channel.

Since then, as previously mentioned earlier in the thread, she's been in constant contact with fans in the form of community questions and polls asking what type of content they would like, if she should make highlight videos, if people would buy her merch were she to make some, should she go back and subtitle her vids etc.

Essentially, the polls all amounted to effectively telling her to do all of these things and people would support it, with some polling numbers in the thousands. I think it's valid to view this as a person who feels there's been a betrayal of trust with her community when she's tried to cater to exactly what they want to see.

She essentially got fucked by people who weren't interested in her subscribing under the belief that they were 'saving a waifu' or some chuuni bullshit, and it's driven Indies into retirement in the past.

Uto and the other two? Yeaaaah not so much. She's clearly uncomfortable with her association to Uto for whatever reason and wouldn't even adhere to the usual 'tradition' that characters drawn by the same person are 'sisters' and tried to distance herself on some corporeal family tree as much as she could.
I assume you mean ame?

it's probably also a policy thing. holoEN doesn't collab that much with JP (and even that has limitations), and JP really only does outside collabs if they are an early gen, and even that seem to have died down besides the occasional sora collab. so it's probably easy to assume the answer if ame asks to collab with some indie (that happens to have the same mama, but still).

You misread, I specifically said Amelia and Gura together. Perhaps I should have specified one-on-one. I agree that the bathtub pizza stream was something different, but it's definitely a rare exception.

However the impromptu MC collab was great and I am hopeful there will be more organic things like that in the future, Gura seems to thrive in those. I'd also like to state to avoid further confusion that I'm a big fan of Gura and that she is the biggest proof that to be succesful as VTuber a cute model, a good rig and loads of cash are meaningless compared to personality. And she has that in abundance.

They all seem to list 'singing' as one of their specialties so I'm just going to assume they operate very similarly to the JP branch (fucking around 99% of the time but also having it in their back pocket to do performances).
They're debuting with a full song + music video, which is pretty rare for Nijisanji - maybe even a first? - so they must be somewhat confident about that. They even roped Sara Hoshikawa into it (whatever "lyrics story" entails)

Why god emperor, what happened when i was offline?

Edit: her pronunciation is actually good, she could pass a someone from Puerto rico or a Whitexican

So I checked who they're following:

Pomu: NijiEN, NijiID, NijiJP, Pikamee, Ollie, and all of VSHOJO.

Elira: NijiEN, NijiID, NijiKR, NijiJP, some VirtualReal, and Froot, Mousey, and Zentreya of VSHOJO.

Finana: NijiEN, NijiJP, NijiID, Ollie, and Iofi.

None of them have elected to follow HoloEN just yet.

Jojo reference, AmongUs, and fart joke as the first ever interaction with the world? Guess I don't need to add anyone to my DD hell this time around.

Subaru on the dancing duck meme.
the Duck deserves it, puts her on the world stage. I've had the dancing duck show up it places I've least expected. I'm willing to say the dancing duck has the same "fall into the rabbit hole" as Fubuki's now gone Scatman vid
These NijisanjiEN will be more like the Vshojo kind than the Hololive kind probably.
Count me out. No offense to the Vshojo group but their content sometimes wants to make me shoot myself

Eh, she seems to have either kicked the bottle or was playing it up as Senzawa. And she does seem to still be putting effort into running a cleaner show than she used to; we actually got our first "shit fuck" out of her in a loooooong time the other day during her RE8 stream when she got seriously startled, and she promptly apologized for the profanity. Given how everyone else in EN other than Ina swears like sailors, I doubt that's management-directed. She still likes blue and she still has the same taste in music, but there's a big gap between Gura and even late-stage Senzawa.
"sortakindanotreally"

This clip kinda puts into perspective how different vtubers work in their respective agencies:

Kinda late, but how to introduce vtubers to your friends:
