And speaking of Chantal working, is there any Canadian here who can clarify what happens If Chantal can't make money on youtube or get a job, is it the life on the dole/benefits? Because I assume she can't keep this up forever. Final destination = homeless?
Edit: another question, if shit would hit the fan, realistically, how easy would it be for her to find a shitty job at todays market?
(ETA: I kind of ignored the question about whether Chantal could find a job because she has said repeatedly she does not want a non-YouTube job. It would be difficult but not impossible for her to find work. But she would have to put effort in, and she's already okay with sleeping on the floor mattress of a crack shack, so I don't think she's up to looking for a job at all tbh.)
There are various programs a normal person could apply for to get assistance. They would all require some form of investigation. I guess she could theoretically get some kind of disability payment, but it would be pittance compared to what she makes on YouTube.
I don't think she'd be eligible for disability benefits because whatever disabilities she might have don't affect her ability to work. Lots of diabetic people her size hold down jobs. More and more workplaces are able to accommodate mobility issues. Especially in these times when so many call center and data entry jobs are done remotely.
As a non-disabled, if her income dries up, she could potentially apply for Ontario Works. Again, if she was successful, it would basically just cover her rent and bills and leave very little for her impressive fast food requirements. She would also be expected to look for a job. Constantly. Until she has one. She'd have a case worker making sure she was looking for a job. Bragging about fucking meth heads would be looked down upon.
IMO the only way she'd be able to avoid working and get the dole is if she was so ill she legitimately couldn't work (I suppose some people can pull that scam, but I really think the fact that Chantal can run a successful YT channel proves she can work) or if she was a full time caregiver (should've been more helpful to granny!)
Homelessness is definitely a possibility. If she was found eligible for government assistance, it would not pay her enough to eat like she does, and I think she'd do more and more degrading shit to make up the difference. Some poor people have to choose between rent and food. Which do you think she would choose? You don't need a house to livestream.
But I also think she could figure out a way to manipulate internet people for just enough, month to month, for a really long time.
Whether or not she actually ends up truly homeless depends on a lot on how much Peetz and her family are willing to put up with her.

@Anne Onimous with a different take, haha! Yeah I believe in Ontario, a disability payment would be like $750 a month or something like that. Very little. Ontario Works would ask to see her lease, car loan, utilities bills etc to work out the reasonable amount, and it would have very little left over for fast food.
