On provincial disability which is all she's eligible for, she'd get $1169/month... again, that's total.

On both programs, her medications & some of her medical supplies would be covered. There's a 'Special Diet' allowance but that was scammed so often, requirements were ratcheted down hard & simply being diabetic doesn't cut it - ordinarily available food satisfies those dietary requirements.

She's also get - either way about $50/month kicked back from provincial sales tax & roughly $60-70/quarter for federal sales tax.

Both programs strictly limit allowable assets & both either closely monitor their clients & compliance with case worker... requests are hardly optional. Inclined to be oppositional? They don't give a shit but you will when your monthly bank deposit isn't made.

It's almost axiomatic that if you're on welfare, you're somehow cheating because you can't make it on what they give you; even a room rental here will going to run you at least $500/month. So you're probably fencing, dealing, whoring yourself out or some other unsavory activity.

On Disability if you're very, very careful, you can get by. But you have zero options & zero slack. Before you throw out that old pair of runner, you salvage the shoe laces & insoles; talking that level of thrift.

Being signed up for a food bank is almost mandatory & knowing how to extract every bit of eating out of any food item is crucial. What you eat isn't ruled by cravings but by weekly sale flyers.

I just looked it up and it said this:

Am I eligible for the CERB? You may be eligible if you have stopped working because of COVID-19. When submitting your first claim, you cannot have earned more than $1,000 in employment and/or self-employment income for a period of at least 14 or more consecutive days within the four-week benefit period of your claim.

To qualify for the CRB, all of the following must apply to you: you live in Canada, are at least 15 years old, and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) you stopped working due to COVID-19 and are available and looking for work or you're working but making less money because of COVID-19. you're not eligible for EI.

ETA : As shown by what @Contrary posted she isn't eligible for CERB, but it was given with no question asked. You just had to subscribe. The government announced they would double check every demand over the next year or so, and claim the money back if the person was actually not eligible. Problem is, I doubt Chantal is doing her taxes and declares her YouTube money, so she will be harder to trace down as a scammer.

I really don't think she was receiving them. If she was, she would have been given a notice to pay them back by now, and we would have heard about it. And isn't CRB paid out with EI? So she double wouldn't have been able to get it.

I also feel like she would've said she was getting it, whether she got it fraudulently or believed she qualified. She's stupid. She would've been getting exactly $2000 torrid hauls. Or Peetz would have let it slip.

In the unlikely event she did get it, they'll track her down eventually. It's one thing to fuck off filing your taxes, the government doesn't always bother going after small potatoes. But fraudulently applying for CERB would be like putting a big target on your back. They've already gone after thousands of people to get CERB back.

The people who had to pay back the CERB were the ones who identified as self-employed about didn't make the $5,000 minimum for the year of 2019 net. Otherwise, CERB isn't something that needs to be paid back (Except through taxes, and as I said they take it off the top for CRB).

CRB has 3 types: Unemployed due to Covid, Have to self isolate due to having Covid, and having to take care of someone who has Covid. The extension was made for self-employed people to match the time that was extended for EI, and is there for people who wouldn't normally be able to qualify for EI.

CERB does need to be paid back if it was obtained fraudulently or mistakenly. It said so about a million times when you apply. They went after the $5000 people first, that doesn't mean they won't notify other people later.

So she could scam CRB too, but I think that still requires more brainpower than she has.

You also needed to have filed taxes in 2019 at all to be able to apply for CERB. I guess it's possible she did that but unlikely.

I doubt this. Maybe in the beginning but she would have received a letter last year saying that the CRA were double checking if she was eligible and if not she'd have to repay everything she claimed, and she would have raged and ate 5 mcdonalds breakfasts about it. Additionally, the CRA would be checking that she made at minimum $5000 in the year previous to the period she claimed, so she could claim this coming two week period, but if she hasn't made at minimum $5000 dollars in the 365 days leading up to this period they'd decline it before it ever hit her bank account. She would also have had to file both her 2019 and 2020 taxes, and tbh I just don't see her claiming her youtube money or even filing her taxes at all.

And doesn't CRB gave to go through EI? So she double wouldn't have been able to get it.

They don't go through EI. EI can only give you anything if you claim it within 4 weeks of losing work, if you don't claim it, you risk losing all EI benefits. CRB is for those who for whatever reason didn't qualify for EI (maybe they didn't file within 4 weeks or something). It seems to be a mesh of EI and CERB, if you didn't earn enough in the previous year, you are required to pay it back, and when applying they would double check her application against her taxes and see if she's made enough to be entitled to that benefit.

In both cases, I'm pretty sure she made well over the $5000 minimum requirement and she would be entitled to it on that basis, but they have other stipulations like contacting employers and if you're self employed, they want your business license, as well as other paperwork. And I'm sure she has none of that.

Chantal isn't on CERB, CRA or EI. It would mean taking time from gorging to fill out boring paperwork, she just doesn't have the attention span and I don't see her getting up at a decent hour to phone in. Waits are up to over an hour at peak times, and even then you can get disconnected.

Do you see her bothering to make two different accounts to apply for each? (EI and CRA) She also wouldn't bother keeping up with bi-weekly reports.

It's a lot of fussing, and yes. You do have to pay some amount back in taxes and provide paperwork.
