We certainly wouldn't make clinics where cutters could have someone do that for them, or give liposuction to an anorexic, or inserting shit into a schizo just because she/he thinks they need a transmitter inside their bodies to communicate with aliens or the dead or whatever. Shit, what would stop from clinics setting up that do voluntary FGM?
What we need to do is have better mental health care, so these people can get therapy that actually helps them, and medications to help whatever is wrong in their brain. And society needs to stop perpetuating their delusions, whether it's from true dysphoria or a fetish, it doesn't even matter the reason anymore.

Just like how they justified lobotomies and bloodletting. "akychually we're doing good". But that may or may not just be them trying to cover their ass, in reality it may just be money, or ideology in the case of activists. Then there's the issue that people who speak out risk losing their careers.

The surgeons require a letter from a therapist that says it will benefit the patient to have surgery. The surgeons don't know that therapists hand them out to whoever wants them. WPATH sets this as a "standard of care" and the surgeons defer to WPATH's standards when they get sued. Saying you were following industry standard is the best defense against malpractice suits, and frankly the therapists need to be held to account for their part in this. Usually when you need a psych sign off for a surgery (like bariatric surgery or some cosmetic surgeries) the person performing the eval does a thorough job of it because they understand the liability involved with signing off on a person who will not benefit from being cut open and rearranged. They also document the hell out of their evals in case they need to prove they did a good job. Gender therapists seem to mostly be empty headed morons who seem to have no clue what will (eventually!) hit them. They are so deep in post modernism and political activism that they don't see that they aren't insured for enough to cover the harm they are causing (which is another problem with this model of "care"). WPATH is ultimately to blame in many ways and cannot be easily held accountable. The quickest end to them is if doctors realized its a joke org and stopped listening to them.
WPATH is mostly ran by activists, the medical people who are a part of it are only there to help the activists write standard of care documents that make sense to other people with medical training. Activists found a way to circumvent all the barriers put in place to try and protect patients by mimicking what real standards orgs do. Medicine has become very specialized so doctors have had to rely on specialist organizations to come up with standards of care, there is far too much material to learn otherwise, and most of the time that system works. It tends to be about 5 years behind whatever research exists to justify a change in a standard. There isn't a lot of political will to fuck with standards of care for 99% of medical problems so the people making the determinations are doctors who are extremely autistic about their specialty, usually the researchers involved are MDs as well. Its exactly who you would want in charge of writing standards.
A recent horrifying development is that a bunch of woke people are trying to make racial health "equity" happen. Its introducing a political pressure into matters that should be 100% scientific. They point out any disparity between groups based on race and say its because of racism, when in many cases it can be attributed to genetics involved with ethnicity itself- imagine diseases like sickle cell anemia or cystic fibrosis, which require 2 copies of genes from people from specific ethnic groups. The only way to make two groups of people with such different health concerns "equal" is to make everyones care worse, there is no other way since there are different challenges inherent to different genetic populations. Even the % of people with different blood types varies by ethnicity, which has implications for other diseases.
In case anyone was curious: the lines drawn on the patient are there to track redness around the infected areas day by day. The border of warmth/redness increases as infection spreads, the shape gets drawn bigger (usually during morning rounds). That's why there is marker all over this poor kid. If you have some kind of red/warm area on your skin and are concerned, but not enough to see a doctor (or you cannot see a doctor) do the same thing for yourself. write the date within the shape you've drawn. Use ballpoint pen, its really hard to get off. Then if something is spreading or getting bigger you'll know for sure and can present your clinician with excellent information about your symptom history. This is better than pictures alone, because the area can be measured after the fact.
Anyway-one the patients in the study used to develop the "dutch protocol" of puberty blockers + cross-sex hormones and eventual surgery died, too. I cannot imagine the grief of the parents having done something voluntarily that they (probably!) believed was in their childs best interest, only to end up burying them.
The complication that killed this patient is a risk of surgery that can occur with most procedures. Granted, it is hard to get e coli as the bug that ends your life with surgeries that aren't near or involving intestines, but lots of different kinds of germs can end you in this exact same way. Most of the time people are fine after surgery, but please remember this patient before getting elective surgery. The more complicated the surgery is and the closer it is to your torso, head or neck the more of a problem it is if you get a massive infection. If your limbs get this kind of infection they can be amputated to save your life. If its in/near the torso, head or neck then all you can do is have doctors clean up the dead tissue, like you're seeing in the pics above.

Just chiming in here to say, in a natural vagina, regular vaginal farts don’t smell at all. And they are usually super tiny— a little “pip.” And then done. It’s just a little air that gets trapped from sex or a position change. It’s not like digestive system gas that is a product of digestion and would smell of feces or digested food.
If your vaginal farts have a strong odor this would be sign of a serious infection!
