Unless interment camps start opening for people using improper pronouns I doubt most people will harbor genuine hate. Some who did get cancelled or were genuinely harassed might, but your average joe blow on the street could probably care less as long as it never really infringed on their own lives. For a lot of trannies their transition never even reaches the point of taking hormones, especially for the young FTM's. Even less end up getting any surgeries, so for a mtf who only used hormones as long as they can put the shame of presenting as a woman at one point behind them they can move on with their lives. FTM's who used hormones will be less fortunate in their circumstances of course, its hard to put facial hair and a deep voice behind you. Obviously anyone who had surgeries especially tit job's(either way on or off lmao) will find it hard to detransition, and will be obviously marked as a troon. Anyone who had the chop or sausage link sewn to their crotch will have uncomfortable realities to face personally, that for the most part won't affect how the public sees them. This all hinges on the current year being the inflection point, if it gets crazier who knows? Those are old comments that ticks me a lot, sorry to necro them - I wanted to reply a while back but I've been busy irl.
I know I'm almost too obsessed with this whole 'what would happen to troons in the future' deal that it might tires out others here. But it's probably the thing I'm worried the most about trans activism. I have had a few people in my life and I couldn't really stop them, all I could do is slowly distancing myself while they're becoming more and more insufferable to be around after they troon out... And even if I stopped from talking to my troon ex-friends, I still care about where would they be in the future? How would they cope if this thing falls apart?
Unlike any post-war counterculture, this troonacy thing is endorsed by the establishment and private sector. It can't be as easily ignored as a silly blunder teenage phases you go through... because being a troon requires institutions affirmation from medical procedures and recordkeeping built on tending tranny delusions, and legal procedures allowing you to change gender in your identifications. It's not something that can go away as if nothing happened because the one in charge has to get around rectifying it. The responsible would falls on doctors, lawyers, bureaucrats, organisations and everyone who's involved in this mess.
One possible scenario IF it happens to end. IMO, detrooners will get their 15 minute of fame at one point, to ask for pity, while pharma companies and surgeons will milk out the last drop of cash out of the ones who still want to chase the dragon, trying to hopelessly 'fix' their bodies. (That won't really fix anything anyway.) Then they'll fade out of public consciousness and become an embarrassing chapter in history.
But how would they be seen and treated by regular person? Would people who still remember the days of tyranny where you could get cancelled and even put in prison for questioning gender ideology now that many decided to launder themselves into another kind of 'sad victims' again? How would ex-troons even accept themselves knowing that they would live with the marks of transitioning because of a dumb decision they made as teenagers for the rest of their life. Especially at the time where you won't pass anymore as trans awareness activism made everyone
I'm not sure what would even be compared to troonism when it comes to having permanent and 'voluntary' body modifications that cause more harm than good in historical sense. I could think of foot-binding in China - but that was forced down. Perhaps you could compare it to religions that the priests castrated themselves like the followers of Cybele in Roman time. But instead of seeing it as a commitment to the Divine, our new god is our ego and a strive for discovering your 'true self'. A modern gnosticism. Maybe our future textbook might see it as an enforcement of gender norms in 20th-21st century that's justified with pseudoscience and the hubris of medical practitioners at the time just as we read about wacky Victorian era 'science'.
TBH I think for a lot of people it will be like seeing someone with cutting scars, we each have our own opinions about that type of behavior but most people keep it to themselves. It might stop relationships or friendships from forming, but no one discriminates against people with cutting scars. For a lot of young people I think trooning out is just a phase, and they'll be able to live it down and move on with their lives. Here's to hoping that this is peak troon mania.
