Did Doug ever retire the Douchey McNitpick character? I don't watch his videos (obviously) so I'm not sure if he did or not.

But yeah, either way he's good at handling criticism and drama, or at worst he's pretty good at hiding his thin skin. Other CA guys may not feature a Douchey-like character in their videos, but I do get the sense that Douchey is a manifestation of how they see their detractors based on how they carry themselves online.

I think Doug said that he couldn't do Twitter because he felt that he'd just go in hot without a filter, whereas Facebook lets him write out his thoughts and get it to where he's able to talk about shit in a calmer sense.

I mean, I've seen him take some shots at Demo Reel, and I remember he opened a review with him getting out of jail after Bart's Nightmare, and one year for Nostalgiaween he had the opening be a "dead joke cemetery" but aside from those, I can't think of any other times he went after his hated shit, like The Wall.

It's kind of funny how Todd shows up every few pages due to the crowd he runs with, only to pass through without getting a thread of his own because nobody feels he's interesting enough to get one, whether it be his videos or his Twitter.

He's been making more comments lately about white this-or-that, now that everyone knows for sure he's Vietnamese with a white Irish 'merican dad. Most of his idpol leanings stick to troonery where if he isn't a chaser it's amazing how frequently the issue comes up. I've watched his content almost since he started and even gave him monies for a while before getting bored (and $20 for the podcast? hell no), so I'll probably hold out hope for his non-lolcow soul until he puts pronouns in bio. That said, he's still Lindsay's pet and a pedo apologist who looks like tan Gene from Bob's Burgers irl and I like his work despite everything.

I doubt very much Lindsay ever saw it that way. None of this stuff is particularly new, most of it dates to academia from 30 odd years ago. All that's changed is the Overton window shifting increasingly further left enough to encompass more and more of it, and its ubiquity on social media. She would've gobbled up this stuff at college, and clearly feels like she was one of the progenitors of its rise in online media critical analysis. Which is true. That's why her frustration in the cancelling video is so funny. It's kinda like Spoony's "Don't tell me how to play!". When people from more traditional professions get cancelled they can just humbly lay down, claim ignorance, show a desire for further education and usually that's enough as long as they don't resist. Because of her massive ego, and status as a supposed expert, that was never gonna happen. For Lindsay this is her realm and anyone criticizing her is just doing it wrong.

There's all this residual resentment around Doug; stoked mainly by 4chan and Dead Horse Interchange. It kicked into overdrive when Spoony got fired. Personally, I never got behind it.

The resentment also increased because of Lordkat going on about how CA management was bad on his podcast for years with several ex-CA people backing him up like Holly Brown. There was also people like Lupa getting fired and people were angry at CA because they took Allison at her word that she was fired for being 15 minutes late to a skype call. Then again, it wasn't helped by the mess that was Pop Quiz Hotshot that was done with money from Indiegogo given by the fans and it turned out so bad with the pilot that it basically felt confirmed that CA took the money and ran so it just fueled the hatred of CA management. Now people just take the not so awesome document as gospel truth of how terrible CA management and now want them to be basically kicked out of the internet even though so much of it was either taken out of context or just plain made up by people out for revenge like Allison Pregler, Dan Olson, Holly Brown, Lindsay Ellis, and particularly Dr. Gonzo with his tweet about how he wanted Michaud to be penniless having to eat dead rats to survive.
