Lolcow Melinda Leigh Scott & Marshall Castersen - Sue-happy couple. Flat earth conspiracists. Pretending to be Jewish. Believe Kiwi Farms is protected by the Masonic Order. 0-6 on lawsuits. Marshall is dead.

It just seems like the world devolved into a shitshow where it's everyone must be either "pro israel" or the enemy. Replace the israel bit with palestine, and you see their view on this too.
I think I mentioned my politics in Pam's thread. I just don't like people killing each other over dumb shit and in my opinion political and religious extremism is dumb shit :)

Notice how this idiot wont define what "Outdoor Recreation" is to her.
You know, the funniest part of this is Mel saying she’s done her research and hers is indeed the only book with most amount of outdoor recreation in one place- who is she supposed to be marketing this to? The general public with kids to shove outside? She really should be more focused on the target demographic group because we can argue all night and day about Mel’s version of outdoor recreation, kiwi version of outdoor recreation, true version of outdoor recreation- the only definition that matters though would be the general public’s idea of what outdoor recreation entails. And at that point, I think they’re just going to google “fun shit to do outside” instead of trying to read Melinda’s book on where and where not to shit in the woods.

You think we're so dysfunctional that our definition differs much from the real \ generally accepted one?
BTW, was "Guided Mindfulness Meditation" discussed? Barnes&Noble attributes it to Melinda together with Juvenescence Outdoors and I can see some similarities (a guide with lengthy title, little interaction from readers).

Tried to do some digging, found a Danish site that has those two books as "by the same author":

Could be a mistake on the site, could be something interesting.

No, not at all. But Mel certainly does. Her first thought upon hearing pipeline hack was “Damn dirty kiwis must’ve done it.” :story: Her sanity protection anytime we mention the general public or society is “KIWIS ARENT EVERYONE REEEEEEE YOU’RE ALL NARCS”

You must understand, we probably provide her only regular interactions with normal, well-adjusted adults. It's us, talking heads in the TV, Marshall when he's around and the kids. Of course we're a major part of her world.
Somebody actually bought one of her books.
...and tries to sell it now... what an ungrateful bastard!

I considered buying her book to review it, but the ebook is 17$, and that's way more than I want to spend on her shitty book. If she lowers the price, I'll consider buying it and reviewing it here.

Here's a few pages of her books for free (archive, archive 2, not archive)

Spoiler, it's bad, both in writting, formatting, lack of footnotes, etc.

OK, that tree-identifying game is not awful, BUT...
@TamarYaelBatYah , you write from a parent's perspective. Why rely on a tree identification book? Take them to one place, show them the tree, let them see leafs, let them touch the bark and see the texture of it, show them nuts and tell them if they are edible. Use the opportunity to bond with the kids. Then take them somewhere else and ask them to find that type of tree. Make it harder, like: show them a green maple tree and let them search somewhere where red ones grow - that's another fun learning experience and an opportunity to explain something. You omit that bonding part entirely and that's the main purpose of doing stuff together.

My book is focused on the planning aspect. Event management and outdoor program planning is not easy. It's one reason so many children and adults are digitally distracted: lack of planning resources. That's where my book comes in.

I give the reader room to develop their own memories in their own way.

Melinda's contract gives her zero say in the book's pricing, among many other tHings.
Yes, the publisher determined the price. But my contract with my publisher will end in June, so I set the price now for the 5th edition. The 5th edition comes out in a few weeks on June 1st of this year, and it will retail for $29.95. That's the price I set but I offer discounts at events and on holidays. Kind of like Tide company with their coupons. High quality but loyal customers get coupons.

The 5th edition is the best edition yet. And it's the final edition for this book. I got it perfected now. That one will go to market in June and now it's time to finish the companion book to have ready for 2022 or 2023. I'm self-publishing the companion book as well.

After that I have 3 more non-fiction to finish writing and I'll write some romance fiction and finish some other fiction novels I have drafted. I have like 5 unfinished books.

When my home office is done I'll be a full time writer. Hopefully I can afford to hire cleaning help soon so I can crank out books faster.

Let's put it this way... the phrase "by the book" comes from somewhere. Don't know if more complicated games appear down the line but judging by that short fragment your target audience are not the most creative people (I mean, if you need to tell someone why it's important to go outside and enjoy the nature they can't be that smart) out there so I wouldn't count on them improving your ideas to make them more suitable for the situation. Sure, focus on planning if you want, but you can mention other aspects as well - in the text or in little bubbles to break the monotony of the page and make it more appealing to look at.

in their own way.
If they're digitally distracted, what makes you think they're gonna put down their devices and say, "I'm gonna buy a copy of Juvenescence Outdoors and plan a camping trip with the kids"

Your book hasn't been selling at $22, what makes you think it'll sell at $30?
