I'm looking for an interesting, story rich RPG and this looks like it might be interesting despite the graphics.

Thank you for your feedback.

If your primary aim is the quality of writing, worldbuilding, and characters then yes absolutely go for it. If you want it to have a good bit of isometric RPG gameplay with it then you will be disappointed. Most of the gameplay within it is very clunky and often optional. I wouldn't consider it the main draw of the game by any means.

Is it good? I had no idea isometric games were still being made. The last one I heard was PoE2.
Extremely.

Id also reccomend divinity original sin 2 if you havent played that. Baldurs gate 3 has been made ny the same folks..havent had time to check it out (i usually buy games on sale) but graphics wise it looks phenomenal and the writing in DOS2 was really engaging.

Might be a noob question but what does the enhanced edition change? I finished the game once, the story's pretty much the best of all the classic Black Isle games but the clunky combat really starts to stink around the Carceri episode, that's where I abandoned most of my subsequent playthroughs.

Have you played Disco Elysium?
Working on my first run, I know I'll play a few more times to see all the crazy shit.

If you enjoyed DOS2 then BG3 is slightly different from what I've read but I doubt you'd care about any of the 'purist' DnD mindset stuff. Its still technically 'early access' bs and doesnt seem to have every Act released from the reviews which makes me go 'why bother releasing' but Larian Studios is definitely more indy styled. I'd also reccomend the way older Divinity 2 which is a third person ARPG but heavy on the RPG mechanics.

Yeah, you should check it out if you want a good story driven game.

You should also check out Grim Fandango if you keep the interest in retro games.

And Siberia too! One of the best action adventure games ever created.

Don't get any of the enhanced editions. They're made by beamdog, a company that "improved" baldur's gate by making an invincible tranny NPC that your entire party immediately starts sucking the dick of and then made a terrible extra expansion pack with tons more of this shit.
