Don't get any of the enhanced editions. They're made by beamdog, a company that "improved" baldur's gate by making an invincible tranny NPC that your entire party immediately starts sucking the dick of and then made a terrible extra expansion pack with tons more of this shit.

It's a great game with a very beautiful and emotional story attached. It's combat isn't the best by any measure, but it certainly isn't unplayable I think.

Also, to repeat what has been said many, many times before... its D&D, a literal realm of magic. Nobody cares you used to have a schlong.

Especially since, in the original Baldur's Gate, there's a side quest where you have to retrieve someone's belt, and find it's been stolen by a pervy ogre with a leather fetish, and when you kill it it also drops a "Cursed Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity" that changes the wearer's sex. "Ogre with a fetish" is a more realistic depiction of the sort of troons we see nowadays than Mizhena was.

The magic sex change thing pops up again in BG2 with Edwin btw, in the FR setting just getting a wizard to change you into the other sex is basically fucking canon. So trans is a fucking nothingburger canonically. It's so fucking stupid.

I recommend Shadowrun Hong Kong for great gameplay, graphics and writing. Or Shadowrun Dragonfall. They go for five bucks on Steam, even less during a sale.

The Planesgate and Baldurs Gate series is a bit too old school for me in writing and gameplay. I'm sure I'll enjoy them when I do, but I can think of quite a few games off the top of my head that I'd feel like playing through before then.

Torment's enhanced edition is fine, they added no new content. You can always pirate it if you don't want to give money to beamdog, but the game itself is fine, they didn't fuck with it.

You should pirate or play a GOG version if possible. Beamdog doesn't deserve your money, but there is convenience in Steam & convenience is king.

Players didn't even kill that NPC because it was a tranny. They did it because that tranny was worth a disproportionate amount of xp.

Enhanced Version is done by Beamdog so no I don't recommend it. They can't even afford a sign on their door let alone work on a game.

Wait....the tranny was invincible? Gee, I wonder why they did that. I still don't understand how they reconcile being 'trans' with the fact that it shouldn't even be a thing in universe because magic makes it easy to literally change sexes. There is literally a cursed girdle that does that in BG1. It doesn't make logical sense in universe

Plus i'm still surprised the troons haven't lost their collective shit over 'edwina' in BG2....then again that would requiring finding out about it, which requires playing it, which we all know troons don't do
