Jazz story is just sad. If it weren't for his mom I doubt he would've ever have though of being born 'in the wrong body', Looking at Jazz's current way of life, it's hard to see any future that isn't him turning into a forgotten, lonely fat old man. Once his mother dies I doubt he would have any motivation at all to keep taking hormones, going to the doctor, trying to pass or take care of his health - he barely does take care of himself with his mom nagging him.

I do feel bad for such young kids being groomed/being directed straight to the 'you're trans, take hormones, surgery, and you'll be happy' when they are not 100% with themselves - which is actually normal, we ALL feel bad and weird when we are teenagers or even younger adults, feel bad about our appearances, or feel like we're trying to find ourselves, because well, we are - they don't have this opportunity to grow. It sucks, but everyone goes through this in life, and making the issue seem like it's one that will be fixed with medication and surgery seem genuinely easier to them. They are not dealing with life while they're busy pursuing their 'ideal/real body' and when they finally get it, they see they still have the same problems as before, just that they have waste their time and give themselves even more problems, namely health problems.

Again while I do feel bad for boys to loose all their sexual libido/unable to feel anything like Jazz, I always think of older males that transitioned after puberty. They're even worse, because i'm pretty sure 99% are just perverted, woman-hating men that dress as women to satiate whatever kink they have. They always hate women that talk back to them and don't support their delusion- just like other horrible, violent and misogynistic men of the their kind.

I also remember reading a few articles of detransitioners, mostly young women, that fell prey to the same type of grooming. Many of them regretting after a mastectomy or srs. But any detransitioner is fully ignored or ostracized and mocked. I've seen posts, including one that go 'I would rather 100 trans kids/teen to get hrt even if it meant one person regretting it'. The fact that a life would be ruined (and that number would be way higher than 1 in 100) and it's just a side effect it's already sickening. I've also seen posts being against Texas and (I think) Alabama law not supporting chemically castrating children that are not even old enough to have sex, making a tattoo or drink alcohol. Saying it's denying trans kids/teens healthcare - They aren't being denied healthcare, they are being correctly prevented of doing unnecessary hormone treatment.

The part about how he sees Jazz as a role model is pretty sad. I mean, what has Jazz ever accomplished? Being trans and the fame from being trans is the only meaning he has in life. There's nothing there to aspire to be, just the impossible goal of being a woman. Well in the TLC show, Jazz had to move to sign her book 'I'm Jazz' in a conference and I remember her saying "Why should I feel proud to be trans if this is who I am ?" and her mother was like "B-b-b-but you are stunning and braave!! and this is all that matter!!!".

Yet another example that proves this surgery is not the magic pill many of these young people who want to transition seem to think it is. Now not only do they have their mental issues to contend with, now they have to deal with their mutilation, and the fact that despite going to these extremes, they are still the same person and feel exactly the same ( but ith additional problems). Jazz is just another cautionary tale, not different then then one's mentioned in Irreversible Damage by Abigal Shrier (it's been mentioned here before and I highly recommend it).

Puberty is caused by sex hormones binding to receptors in human cells (including cells in the reproductive system, brain, bones, and anywhere else changes happen during puberty). The hormones bind and send chemical signals to begin specific changes inside the cells, which then add up to changes in tissues across the entire body. Puberty blockers jam up the receptors by binding to the cells with an artificial hormone compound that doesn't cause puberty. It is the cellular equivalent of jamming a screwdriver into a lock and breaking off the handle. Any sex hormones that would have had a chance to bind to the receptor and start puberty are prevented from doing so. The gonads atrophy. Cross sex hormones are started at the same time that puberty blockers are ceased, which ruins the gonads completely and permanently.

You are right that puberty is prevented completely because puberty is supposed to be the way that the body becomes capable of reproducing. Even if some part of that fails and a person is sterile after normal puberty, their reproductive systems become sexually mature in other respects (like being able to get/maintain erections, or having vaginal lubrication etc etc). Dosing a reproductive system with high levels of opposite sex hormones causes huge problems. Females on testosterone experience atrophy of the vagina and uterus, vaginal dryness, and cancer of the cervix/uterus. Males on estrogen have atrophy of the penis, shrinking testicles, and impotence.

So it jams the receptor for sex hormones (all sex hormones or just some?) but not the receptors for growth hormones. That allows the child to keep growing in other ways.

Not sure if you left this out because it's not sex organ related but doesn't estrogen also increase the risk of blood clots and cancers elsewhere in the body in men?
