There is already a spin off thread The Comicsgate hangers on thread which was basically about Ethan and now that bad boy is dead on the vine.

I mean, Ethan is a polarizing figure, but he really isn't cow enough to warrant his own thread, especially when some of his a logs here fit the bill of lolcow even more than he does.

Yeah the Comicsgate Hangers-On thread was for the a-loggers like Preston and LaughingMan and Newman's to myopically rant about Frog in since their slapfights were hijacking the main focus of the thread, which was still centered on the state of mainstream comics at the time. But it turns out even they didn't like reading each others' tedious posts after a point and that thread died out while moderation here laxened due to the lack of interest on topics like Mark Waid, renfamous and Kwanzer and turned to Comicsgate figures themselves, which only makes sense since the amount of available content they put of themselves online dwarfs Waid's online presence.

One worthy thing she hopefully did is that her meltdown might have gotten ME to grow a brain and enact a "no thots allowed" policy

No, it's just that Piper simply does not possess the business mindset and professionalism to be an approved professional "Anti-SJW e-girl", that others like Mandy and La Reina Creole have been deemed to be by the people calling shots in backrooms. If Tom wants to talk over Mandy Summers on Toxic Femininity Mandy will not give a fuck so long as she's getting something out of being there, correctly understanding this to be a straightforward, transactional relationship. People like Piper were confused and thought they were in a community, or like MechaRandom who got confused and actually believed she was part of some anti-cancel culture, anti-SJW movement. But yeah, even without bad coloring, the art isn't great. It goes up to newspaper comic tier in some respects, but not something I'd want in a floppy or a graphic novel though... unless it was a compilation of 4 panels and Sunday Funnies.

I just got my copy of Starblades. Good God, Kyle Ritter can draw! And the colors are second to none. This has got to be the best book CG has ever put out. Marvel and DC should take notes because if their books looked anything like Starblades then they would be flying off the shelves! But based on Kyle's fulfillment and him being tied up with so much work, I really don't think we are to see a Starblades 2. Which is a shame because Starblades is a beautiful looking book.

Chris writing was good because it was based on himself and what he thought was cool. Along the way he would tell us way too much information about himself and that's what got people hooked on his comics up until issue 10.

I don't think we are going to see any of that with 499. Especially, since Zach is writing the story.

Chris writing was good because it was based on himself and what he thought was cool. Along the way he would tell us way too much information about himself and that's what got people hooked on his comics up until issue 10.

That, and it was good because it was so batshit insane and awful it swung all the way around and became awesome.

The thing is, I could see plenty of comics actually being worse than Sonichu, and I could probably make that critique in a non-hyperbolic way. I shudder at the thought that 499 will have none of the "compelling narrative" that Sonichu has. Only the shitty artwork.

You know, I hated what I was seeing of Narwhal's art too, but then once I saw the day-glo colors, it clicked for me - it was the extra level of style to make the stylization quite appeal to me. It really does look like freeze frames from some experimental cartoon; maybe a college kid's project, or maybe something out of eastern Europe before the wall fell. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but it really grew on me and I'd love to give 499 a look some day. I'm just not in a good spot in life to be buying physical comic books, but who knows, maybe if Zack does another inventory clearance-type sale in the future.
