I don't mind sexualized content in games and the Hot Tub meta, which I can at least respect the hustle, really is a big brained scheme to just get money from simps . If you tried to defend sexualized content in the video game thread it would be an instant ban. The video game stuff is a step down in my mind since they are all fake anyways.

In the earlier Hot Tub related thread where on of the big streamers got her ad revenue pulled a lot of the posters seemed upset about it and sided with the streamer. This also seems to go against the usual phrase on ResetEra that private platforms are free to do as they wish (usually referring to Twitter, Facebook, etc. bans on usually right wing figures).

Can these two views be reconciled or are double standards the only standards they have?

There is no rationalization for it, it's just out-and-out hypocrisy and double standards. If the objectification of women is demeaning and harmful, then it shouldn't matter whether or not the woman being objectified is an imaginary videogame/anime character or just a Twitch streamer jiggling for the camera. There's really no logical way to explain the contradiction.

I'm sure they would say, "Yeah but this is a woman using her body to make sweet sweet money!," as if that's somehow more upstanding than a talented artist who draws and creates sexy characters. On a forum full of anti-capitalists, it is surprising how often "making money" ends up being an excuse for all kinds of behavior they would otherwise find reprehensible.
