Wow, the production is all over the place, the lyrics are condescendingly dogshit, and the metaphor is hamfisted. Twitter stans calling this good? This song is basically FASed lovechild of Shawn Mendes and The Chainsmokers. Lyrics below so that you can dissect and explain why they suck.

A lot of these zoomer-adjacent online communities (including ones based around a block game, apparently) appear to rely heavily upon the cultivation of a parasocial relationship between the content creator and the audience, and in that context, the appearance of the content creator is highly important to their brand.

Of Dream's close associates, I notice that the only one who regularly shows his face on camera is GeorgeNotFound, which is interesting, because incidentally, he's the only one of the bunch who closely fits the cute twink archetype that these fangirls seem to go crazy for.

From what I've heard from other artists Dream has commissioned in the past, he pays pretty damn well (and for the actual artists who don't trace I'd hope he does, with the amount of money he has to throw around). So not only was this a traced commission, this was possibly a ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR traced commission. Yikes!

Mask is one of those songs that sucks so much it makes you appreciate a generic pop song in hindsight. God, Circles had such amazing production. Can't believe it got overtaken by it's knockoff.

As an artist, it's hard for me to say if this artist is right. It all depends on the technical task set by Dream himself. So, perhaps, this is a stupid mistake of Dream himself, and not of the artist (in case the link was given in the form of the original painting, and wishes in the style of "do it this way"

Fuck, sometimes it seems to me that Dream deliberately provokes scandals in order to prolong his popularity (especially considering that he is trying to get out of these scandals like a knight in a white cloak)
