General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I dunno if it's my inner fanboy or not, but if they're going to collab with anyone from VShojo, I wouldn't mind it being Silvervale. Outside of the boob jokes, she seems wholesome and cute enough that it hopefully would not devolve into nonsense. Worst case scenario she sees something that looks like a penis and struggles to hold back a dick pun.
She can peepeepoopoo like the rest of them, but she is able to surpress it fairly well. Her name doesn't seem to get thrown around here a lot, so I take it she is more normal. I'd be more worried of a collab with Beatani than Silvervale.

New rrat: One of the current EN managers, had enough and is packing up.
Or they are expanding, considering there is 1 manager that has like 3 ENs now must be that way, or they are preparing the groundwork for HoloMEXICO

She didn't talk about the YouTube stuff, but she seems to be enjoying herself a lot. (I forgot to snap a picture after she put bonito flakes on it)
There goes my rrat that she could not cook for shit

Its mentioned that they'll accept any nationality, but the applicant must reside in Japan
Looks like we got ourselves another Gaijin talent like Calli folks
Either that or they're hiring some sort of middle-man for JP talents to communicate better with their western fans.

I can't think of them sending out the recruitment flares for a talent management position before, I don't see why they'd do it now. I also can't really see why J-Chad couldn't manage Calli AND this prospective Gen2 member given that it's pretty common for managers to have more than one girl under their wing.

Unless it's J-Chad herself that's leaving the space empty, I feel like this role is for something slightly different.

I'd say Silver is pretty normal compared to Nyanners, Zen or Melody. Kind of like a slightly more lewd version of Froot maybe.

Ooo what's everyone take on Cover looking for more English talent management.

Looks like Gen 2 or that V singer for EN they nabbed could be here soon then.

More management personnel probably. From the look of it, those managers is working 100% online with discord chat with the girls. Unless it is pitiful pay, I don’t see how anyone would quit an ez job like that.

Plus it does not seem you need to have natural leadership trait to get the job either since COVER is more on reactive than proactive side.

She can cook, can sew, and apparently very clean and neat. This woman from Georgia is as Japanese wife as it get.

As someone who is only mildly familiar with the latest innovation in parasocial relationships, why do you guys prefer corporate Vtubers over independent/smaller scale ones?

Rabbit hole opened up during quarantine with Hololive talents for most people. Blame YT algorithm. Second most popular is Nijisanji which is inevitably mentioned around holos since they collab and stuff.
And indies that you might like you have to search out for yourself, which might not even be viable when you want to keep up with Hololive happenings alone.
It's just a happenstance.

Some do prefer indies because they aren't restricted in their content and have far more intimate chats where you can actually communicate with the streamer in question.

As for myself, I enjoy the production value that is afforded for big events like festivals and concerts, the easy networking that comes with being colleagues under the same agency, and most importantly the level of quality control exercised on the talent - I can be sure that a talent isn't going to go on Twitter with their corporate identity and give their hot takes on recent events and politics, because that is how one gets dropped like a sack of potatoes. I'm trying to get away from all that, so I appreciate the level of professional restraint.

I also know for me they started exploded after Hololive-EN premiered, which was early September. And around that time, the election was causing everyone to go psychotic. FAR too many indies wouldn't shut their fucking gobs about politics, so it was nice to find a group who is basically banned from talking about anything political by corporate so as not to alienate any part of their fanbase.

The real problem is that vTuber quickly became the new uwu Fursona/Persona thing that everyone flocked to in order to have a 'special identity', mainly without realizing that it's just twitch streaming but with extra steps. The corporate ones are at least vetted enough they shouldn't go crazy and be sure to be entertaining.

I like both Corporate Vtubers and indy vtubers.

For instance, One Japanese indy Vtuber I found and like is Monaca.

She is playing GTA right now.

She only has 6k subscribers. But she is entertaining and has a scuffed on screen translator which can be hilarious in what it spits out.

Not necessarily. Given vtubing is mostly an online job (outside of concerts and live events), there's nothing which says a chuba's manager must reside in the same region. Not to say HoloEN2 won't have Japanese-based talent, but for this job I'd take it more as Cover wanting its actual employees to be local.

For me it's down to curation. There's plenty of indies which are entertaining or fun to follow - but there's even more who are terrible, treat chubing as a soapbox for their political (and almost always SJW leftist) beliefs, or both. It can be tiresome trying to filter through the muck, especially when one's time is limited.

Corpos whereas largely take care of this issue through their recruitment processes. They're more likely to dig up actual talent, take that talent capable of avoiding the potholes, and provide the talent with the resources needed to maximize their shtick. It's not always true of course, but overall I find I'm more likely to discover someone interesting to follow watching the corpo side than digging through the indie scene.

Damn, Towa's subscription numbers are low but her superchats are disgustingly high.

Streaming for 100 minutes and already has around $2,500 in Superchats.
She's like Flare. Both have fierce fanbases despite initially getting the short end of their generational stick (Luna has less subs than Towa now, but Towa used to be 40K subs BEHIND her until her 3D debut where she started to hit a stride).

Towa's numbers are also actively deceptive. She may 'only' be at 650K, but at the turn of the New Year she released her showstealing NYE outfit, hosted the MK8 tournament on her channel, participated in Coco's Meme Review, and if you can pull her away from APEX for a prolonged period of time to do anything else, she absolutely rakes in views, subs and superchats.

She's kind of become a Dark Horse of the company. I think she'd be well into 700K, maybe even 800K, if she didn't spend so much of the current year doing APEX tournaments. Ironically, her APEX tournaments and her interactions with the people there is some of the most entertaining content, as it offers new dynamics beyond the Hololive bubble.

Simple. Entertainment.

We escape to the internet for entertainment, to unwind ourselves from everyday life bs. Corporate Vtuber will not bring their own political beliefs into their content nor will they ever do so for internet clout or just to please Twitter Stan (who only love to destroy things people like just look at the current western comic vs Japanese manga etc.).

Corporate Vtubers allow to do whatever the heck they want in their personal life but when it’s time for them to stream, they need to keep their “mask on”.

Since almost all of you raise an issue about indie/non corperated Vtuber bringing political into their entertainment persona, I would like to illustrate the point with following,

This is a tweet today of Futakuchi Mana, a considerable successful indie Vtuber with almost 60k sub on Youtube.

The most fun thing about it is that Palestine doesnt give a shit and the pronouns on bio would be shot to dead by Hamas if they know they like it in the wrong hole

She's been sperging out about the Israel-Palestine conflict for the past few weeks. Thought about posting it here but at this point, most folks in this thread already familiar with her antics have pretty much written her off as a glorified vtweeter that occasionally does metal covers. Her twitter sperg-outs are actually boring at this point. "If I had to quit vtubing, blah, blah, blah" - bitch, just fucking do it already then. Jesus fuck.

EDIT:
I also had to laugh about the fucking whiplash in this series of tweets about how she basically goes from "I do what the fuck I want, unfollow me if you don't like it!" to "Guys? I got a new cover coming up. I'm a musician first and foremost, y'know?" The fucking ego on this bitch.
