Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Beats me. Not in any one I'm in (Pangea, etc.). So I sent him a PM here. I don't know how else to contact him.

I don't think he does, but who knows. It's an ongoing thing what if any alt accounts he has on other sites.

Diversify with any investment strategy. Unless it's just a small amount of money. Which I'm guessing, in Mike's case, it's not.

Probably a safe guess. It was embarrassing to watch Mike hit Ethan up for more money on those cards on twitter, worse to use his daughter.

I never liked Ethan's using WC talking points about Miller or Edwin embezzling money or whatever, but the flip side is true with Miller. Dude's bad with money.

Their are 'safe' investments and then there are risky ones. You of course want to diversify like you say. But more than that. There are certain things you don't park your capital in. Not if your a forty/fifty something on limited income that is

Frog is in a Discord?

I don't know if Mike legitimately put all his grift money into E-currency. If so that's fucking stupid.

Is it an emissions thing?
i guess you could say that.

i’m wondering how this dude is even able to survive. Does his wife make the lion’s share of the money or something? I don’t see how the past projects he has been doing for the past year and a half are able to support his household.

I have a Discord account that I used to appear on the Dick Masterson show once, but I never use it. I never got the hang of Discord.

My email is public: ethan12032@gmail.com That's the best way to get me.

Second best way is my Twitter DM, which I try stay on top of.

I have zero fake sockpuppet bullshit accounts.

It just concerns something we said on D&V's show last night. Nothing terribly important.

EDIT: If you really must know, he wanted to thank the person who brought up the fact that Liam claiming "Ody was nothing until I found him" is quite possibly the most ENRAGING thing Liam has ever said. That was me. Dean didn't have the Streamyards overlay up. I went on briefly before Ethan. I didn't think it was worth crapping up the thread with.

Most of what Liam says is dumb (often hilariously so) but that might take the cake. I hate to see innocent and talented people dragged through the mud like that.

Fortunately, I think we all know Ody has a much brighter future now that he's free of the clutches of Liam.

I'll start with the 6 inch Marvel Legends, and then later on, since they'll undoubtedly be far less expensive to produce, make GI Joe scale versions too.
Makes sense, the gijoe scale could be good for playsets, maybe even include the gorilla from lost souls.

First, that assumes what everyone says is true. I don't know. Second, he did okay for a while.

Mike was in comics in the 90s working on x-books and with Wildstorm.

His wife cosplayed one of Jim Lee's characters, if I'm remembering right. Mike then moved over to DC, pencilling part of Mark Waid's aborted JLA run before becoming a regular Superman penciller in the early 00s. Mike posted on the then DC message boards, going from memory, when he was led into stating his opinion that Superman would probably support traditional marriage, being from Kansas farm country and all.

This led to his first cancelling? Then he proceeded to spend some time in the wilderness before Miller's friends hooked him up on Martin's Hedge Knight series, which started a long and lucrative career with Martin's properties.

Miller's artwork continued to be tied to GoT/song of ice and fire back during the series peak with covers.

While we see artists bad mouth residuals, any residuals from these kindsof things aren't anything to sneeze at.

Mike finally got back at DC with Injustice. Regardless of my opinion on the quality of those comics, they were very successful.

So in addition to having worked in comics at the most lucrative time on the most lucrative properties, having a steady number of evergreen projects in trade, and until recently enjoying moderate success in crowdfunding before tanking; Mike has decades of lucrative OG artwork.

It's more a statement on his own incompetence if he is having financial difficulties like Frog and WC have alleged.

Comics artists get residuals? I thought D.C. and Marvel didn't do that. Does Dynamite?

I’ve heard Mike talking about getting royalty checks from certain properties on his streams and Ethan talks about getting royalty checks from Green Lantern all the time.
Oh well, good for them. I had heard most of this stuff is treated as "work for hire."

It is, and they are considered independent contractors.

But Western artists are insanely spoiled. They still will complain that their residuals aren't big enough. DC does okay, but I've heard Marvel not as much. As for other companies, it depends...

Usually what you get will be a contractual matter. But, for example, if you create something. Like Graham Nolan and Chuck Dixon created Bane. They see a piece of the profit when Bane is used. Not just comics either. They'll get stuff on movies and TV. Famously, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm did an Annual to introduce Roxie Rocket? because they didn't get residuals on Harley Quinn due to her first appearing on television.

In addition to residuals, artists get to keep their original artwork and inkers too. This was a hard fought battle in the 60's and 70s. Because of that, original artwork is one of the most important things an artist will create in his life time. Some pages, Todd McFarlane Amazing Spider-Man for example, will provide for them decades later. Lynn Varley allegedly stole some from Frank Miller.

Well, to be fair, manga artists get royalties and residuals too.

It's just that many of them probably earn the shit out of the royalties and residuals. Rumiko Takahashi is one of the richest manga artists in Japan according to tax records.

But she did like, ya know, Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. Maybe some of you have heard of those. LOL.

Women can do good comics, just apparently not OUR women. If some purple hair is bitching about not getting paid enough for her poor selling neo-feminist tome, she can take a leap. Write/draw something that sells worth a damn.

It's different in that Rumiko created those comics from the ground up. American artists and writers get paid on stuff they didn't invent.

Women have contributed to American comics for decades. the difference is the Japanese know when to tune them the fuck out.

700 dollars? Wtf...

Edit 800, fucking crazy

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Total: $21236 in under a month

All youtubers cultivate a parasocial relationship with their audience, but only Gary and a few others can be said to have perfected it. Friday Night Tights as a show may have collapsed long ago under the crushing tedium of reading hundreds upon hundreds of superchats per show, but it makes no difference because the audience that's there are no longer interested in being entertained, they've been conditioned to feel vicarious pleasure in watching Gary receive money.

It's this achievement and the desire to follow in his wake, ascending to true griftlord status themselves that has guests like Midnight's Edge and even professional comedians like Chrissie Mayr (allegedly) at Nerdrotic's beck and call, taking backroom marching orders from him on who they can and can't have on their own channels.

Quick followup on what was discussed here:
  • Breaking down Liam's latest "quitting Comicsgate" video
  • Finatra's string of drunken 12 hour tirades against the "Etsy Boys".
  • Piper retiring from running shows on her channel due to pressure from the Fandom Rejects.
  • Frog shows up to comment on Liam's CG legacy, with emphasis on what happened to Ody
The final segment is an inchaote session of Comicsgate Court between Finatra (who appears) and the people of Pangea, the culmination of several weeks of growing hostilities between the two subsets of smaller Comicsgaters. Finatra is angry that 'Jazz Crab' dug up some tracks from his failed soundcloud rapper phase a decade ago as well as a suspicious striking of his channel after calling them out, but this was deemed not to be doxing since no private or potentially harmful information on Finatra has been put anywhere; the channel strike claim didn't really go anywhere as Finatra's blasting of copyrighted material feasibly could account for the strike. A few witnesses were brought on like George Peter Gatsis to attest to acts like how Finatra would bring him as a guest onto his show only to drunkenly shout him down about how he's going to break all his limbs and curbstomp his old ass because he's the Etsycutioner now.

Finatra concedes that was kind of fucked up on his part but doesn't seem overly concerned with the Etsies' feelings. Eventually some agreement was reached that Finatra ambushing people who willingly hang out with the both of them was out of line, agreeing to apologize to substance abusing Comicsgate bogan Ryzie Lee. In any case it's all out of Finatra's system now and after this floated around the idea of them all just hanging out for the rest of the show and kicking back. DA Talks and Vikki decline and with that the show ends.

Fortunately, that's not how D&V do things. It's a good show because it's more like a "news hour" than the insufferable shit that he does.

And as for anything being out of Finatra's system, I'll believe that if he can make it more than two weeks without stepping on his dick again. I think it was just last week that he did something else boneheaded and had to apologize to Testefy (I know, the horror!). Before that, it was some other stupid shit I've forgotten about.

He exacerbated this problem by sperging out at Vikki on Nasser's stream. That's a paddling D&V show topic. Otherwise this would probably have been contained to streams nobody gives a shit about.

I'm starting to suspect he's listening to WC. It's bad enough he hangs with rejects like Liam and DarkGrift. I hang around "the etsys," and I can tell you while they do like fucking with people to some extent, it's not in the evil and insidious manner Finatra suggests. Not in the manner WC is notorious for.

A few pages late, but Kiwis, I think I may have a theory.

Frog pre-emptively ends Liam, and then Zack has a mental breakdown. I think this is not a coincidence, it's the woo-woo universal energy that is telling us that the power of ComicsGate astrology is now shifting.

Liam was the prophesized one, and he uttered a simple word that should have resonated with everyone a long time back before he ever left CG: "Fuck Zack".

I believe it is time to re-instate the Orange Tyrant's spotlight, he was onto Zack before any of us!

Except they were apart of WC. For a while. I remember seeing a few of them go hard in the paint on Twitter with the WC line of assholes. I like Testy, Baby Jesus help me but I do. Still, that always is there in the back of my mind that not only were they members of WC, they had to be kicked out after being there for quite a while.

Hopefully it all falls into the past and anyone that listens to Wascampaign at this point is a damned fool.
